part 353 whalers on the moon

We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

Enjoy part 353!

i'd like to do some embroidery but i'm not so sure about embroidering human figures - not sure what i could do with them beyond the thread equivalent of lineart, and it would have to be copied lineart from some willing fanartist because no drawing ability is half my reason to embroider in the first place - so all i can think of to do is the mochis. which at this point would require buying mochi-dedicated thread colours...

Well, you could also use official art too. Either way, it'd be pretty neat!

i might try looking for some! i don't think i could use much from the comics (overlapping objects, and too small/visually messy to convert to thread design), and things he's coloured are right out because i've never done the 'large areas entirely filled in with colour gradients' needle-painting style (and i'm less interested in learning that than working with the different texture effects of a variety of one-colour-at-a-time stitches), and at that point monocolour outline embroidery of a character standing alone just isn't the most interesting embroidery. but something might be worth a try, chibis or floating blog heads...

I think that you could use the chibis and maybe add some embroidery border of flowers around them? Or incorporate them with text, like a traditional sampler (I think that's what those are called).

/replying 12 hours later but
that might actually work! i'd looked at the character profiles, and decided they weren't possible directly, but yeah, a little bordered rectangle with a character design not necessarily the one in their profile picture and a little text, thank you anon, i am thinking about this!
