Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
[You crazy Europeans. He won't be doing any getting down with his roots, because he's not going to become his mother! ]
Headin' north west! If we keep goin' it'll be fine!
[He should offer to carry her but he's kind of in a rush and forgotten whatever manners he might have. Maybe if she complains some more he'll remember. It'll probably be madness when they get there but they won't be exploded, so he'll take those odds.]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
Once again, don't knock it, kid. You don't want to know the ins and outs of this family tree.]
I-If you- hhaa- s-say- so- nngh.
[She'd be demanding outright if he were someone else, but she's hesitant- she has manners still. The further they go, though, the closer she is to asking, or she would be if she had breath for it. On top of that she's getting a stitch, her breathing ragged, her legs numb and liable to make her stumble if she slows down in the slightest
or if she isn't nimble enough to avoid a sudden decline under her feet]
Aah- !
[She doesn't trip, but rather slides, landing heavily on one hip before the momentum propels her to her knees. It takes what little breath she had, and her panting comes out in loud, pained sounds]
C-Can't- I can't-
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
[Talking won't help them get there any faster so he nods in return before focusing on where they're heading. She seems out of breath but that's expected if she doesn't have to run very often and he doesn't think anything of it until she slips.]
[His own feet slides as he stops but he doesn't slide over, before taking a few steps back and crouching down next to her. That pained breathing doesn't sound good and he swears under his breath as he checks her over. It doesn't look life threatening but it looks painful.]
's okay, I'll get ya there. Gotta need to carry ya, are ya okay to hold on?
[Carrying her on his back will be slow, but if she's hurt her wrist it might be too painful and a bridal carry will be even worse.]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
Out of breath is an understatement, but it's normal for her, unfortunately. It's only painful because of exertion, she's not injured- no more than she was already, anyway, a bit bumped and bruised, but her hand rests on his arm for a moment, clutching tightly, unable to get her breath]
N-No- wait- hhaaagh- [Rubbing her own throat almost desperately, where that collar sits, drawing heaving breaths for as long as it takes until they begin, finally, to sound less alarming.] A-And don't- swear- ch-chgh-
[Coughing badly, but her breathing slows, the redness dissipating from her face at length, and she tries to pull herself up rather weakly.]
I-If you would, please... [It's...a little embarrassing for it to come to this with someone she doesn't know that well, but she can't manage it otherwise.]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
Really, the swearin' is what's worrying ya?
[Sounds more amused than annoyed because that's a good sign that she's not dying. Once she looks less red he offers his hand that isn't on the arm she's clinging onto to help her up.]
Right, sort yaself out and then climb on. Just to warn ya, I ain't a horse and will be choosing the speed myself.
[That's a joke but still true. He won't go around telling anyone about this, so she shouldn't worry...unless she upsets him at some point, then all bets are off.]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
Th-there is no need to forget our m-manners. [Exhaling shakily, gathering herself. That quip makes her smile a bit ruefully, though.] Ha...are you sure you do not need the encouragement of the crop?
[Also a joke (one hopes), and she's ready to try climbing on his back. What makes him think she's going to upset him?! You are so prejudiced, Australia]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
Wasn't aware I had any, so maybe it's just yours?
[Shakes his head about the crop but it's obvious he's taking it as a joke as he turns around and crouches for her to get on his back. She's a nation and nations have a habit of upsetting him! Apart from possibly Japan, and that might be because his rudeness is so polite he's not smart enough to realise it.]
Like most steeds, respond better to praise than punishment.
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
I could never forget mine.
[Tosses her hair as if it wasn't tangled and slightly leafy. She'd rather he pick her up, but it'll do, and she's climbing on and holding tight for him to lift her. He can examine her hands if he wants, since they're in his peripheral vision when she wraps her arms around his neck.]
Ah...my steeds...are almost always the sort who require chastisement. [she's ridden some temperamental stallions, oh yes]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
Says the guy who regularly gets bitten by dangerous animals.][Her hair toss makes him laugh but it's almost disbelieving that she's keeping that up in these trying circumstances. It's appreciated though, because it'd be a warning sign otherwise and he doesn't want her having a break down or anything on his back. With a grunt he lifts her up onto his back properly, adjusting her arms slightly so they're not so close around his neck before starting to walk again.]
Really? Ya like trouble-makers then? I always bribed my horses, seemed to work. Have ya tried sugar lumps?
[Also he couldn't be tough on his horses back then either, they were really nice horses.]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
She's remained prouder through worse, so he needn't worry. Though...much longer without a change of clothes and she may well have a breakdown. She's a light enough load for a strong person, though she clings in a bothersome way with her legs. Clasping her hands and letting them dangle in front of him]
I have tried everything, including all manner of sweets. I do not like troublemakers- [only a small lie] -but I seem to attract them. And they will respond to nothing but the rod...as it were.
[Sighing, resting her chin on his shoulder. She'd never hurt an animal...what gave you that impression]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
[She's not a heavy load but her legs are kind of awkward around him and her hands obscure his vision for a second when they go over a bump.]
Uh huh, ya don't like troublemakers. It's a shame where ya live is filled with them then.
[Not that Oceania is better. Her sigh makes him laugh roughly, and if he wasn't carrying her, she'd get a patronising part on the head.]
Perhaps it'd help if ya didn't call them steeds?
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
She's also a bit of an unhappy passenger, readjusting herself, trying to get comfortable in an impossible position]
Tsk, you need not remind me! My neighbours leave something to be desired, indeed. [There's a pause, and then in response to his laughter, a much softer breath of amusement.] I do not think that is the problem.
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
Oi, watch it!
[It works like it would on a horse though and he speeds up, keeping west as he tries not to trip up over any stray roots. More speed, less haste.]
Still...must be one of them ya like. Like with mine, Tongo's alright. Not as weird 'bout sheep as New Zealand is.
[Possibly just being nosey now, but she seems in a decent enough mood for questions.]
I'd ask if ya have to "use the rod" a lot but sounds like your diplomacy's different to mine. I just try to get them drunk and then sign trade agreements.
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
Whoops, trying to stay still]
My apologies- ah- do be careful!
[The speed is disconcerting to her, but she's trying to trust him, and also trying not to drop her belongings. She's in an amiable enough mood for questions- if that can really be said about this situation, and at that she snorts]
Not a one. [Pause.] No, that is uncharitable. I like Ungarn. [A longer pause.] And Deutschland. [...] I have been known to tolerate others. And, well. I adapt my methods to the situation. Diplomacy is long past some of my...neighbours.
[You know, the ones who have to insist they are still countries]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
'm trying! Ain't like I'm aiming to get us killed before we even get there.
[Surely the safe zone can't be that far away now? He'd ask her how he thinks they're doing if he didn't know it was futile now. He will stop if she drops anything though, he's a gentleman like that.]
Wow, bit harsh? [Laughs at her taking it back though.] No idea who that first one is, Germany's alright though. Well, probably is, I haven't met her. So...have ya actually poisoned any of them?
[Oh look he's being subtle! It's a joke though (he reckons she's probably tried it on Prussia at some point, he'd probably try to do that to Prussia if they were neighbours) and he laughs to himself. The landscape is getting more familiar to where they started out though, if he takes a closer look. A promising sign.]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
And- that is a most indelicate subject. [Which is a yes. Not just tried, but succeeded.] There is no need to discuss- ...do you think we are making progress?
[They seem to be leaving the woods behind, at least, and that seems like progress to her]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
[Laughs at her calling it indelicate, because that sounds like a yes to him.]
Progress? Yeah, looks like we're getting closer...haven't run into anyone either, good sign.
[They must eventually, and hopefully they won't be outright hostile. That'll be a nuisance. Especially since he's getting tired from all this running and carrying, and he's starting to visibly flag slightly from it.]
Re: Battle Royale - Day 10
Of course. Though less rude to her elders, and more pleasant in temperament. And more attractive.
[Says this like it's the most self-evident thing in the world, a motherly sort of pride to it. Germany is a good girl]
Ah...yes- perhaps we should take advantage of the peace and quiet, and rest.
[Thinking
for onceof him, not herself- she can feel him tiring and hear it in his voice. SHE FEELS BAD.]What is that ahead? ...Is that a house?
