i am still a sucker for the 'sweet devil' au

i don't even like the outfits to be honest and personally i think america looks kind of weird with black hair

but it reawakens my old fascination with demons. and by fascination i mean i think it's hot. and i have a thing for evil versions of just about any character i like in any fandom, too, so win-win

Historical AUs, though I get that they're a bit rare because alternative history is hard and so I admire the people who make it happen all the more


Canon fusion/Mashup AUs are just wild when done right. My favorite is the kind where the main details of the other canon are the same, but then also personified countries exist. Either widely known or discovered as part of the plot. Mmmmmmyes. /mashes face into those

i like halloween/magical/etc AUs, and i too like alt history AUs although they're very difficult to write because you need to be so knowledgeable...my favourite "what if?" is what if some kind of austro-prussian marriage did happen like they briefly thought about with friedrich/theresia lmao (though that specific situation would've been a disaster, i'm sure). or like if austria remained in the confederation and things proceeded that way. basically would've had austria-prussia rather than austria-hungary...if they didn't just get consumed into germany, that is, but details

i also shamelessly like human AUs with mundane situations, but i like unusual circumstances too. last thing we talked about was a scenario set around a theatre/club in the 1920s (i'm not sure which country, somewhere in europe- the 20s is hard for germanic characters because their home countries are struggling after the war). feat. france as a philandering, dubious magician.

i think it goes without saying most of my AUs involve nyotalia though

Crossovers. I am a sucker for the ones where an investigative/detective/procedural team are called in to unravel a mystery that makes no sense, because the existence of nations is still a total conspiracy. Or setting nations down in the middle of political conspiracy drama with people who've got all sorts of reasons to use personified nations for their own ends. I'd give right arm for a Hetalia/House of Cards mash up, dammit.

Fantasy like AUs with good world building.

I'm a sucker for anything, mermaids, vampires, witches, fairies, sci fi, steampunk, demons, etc. as long as the world building provides a good foundation.
