Okay, so last spring ago a namefag(zuikis) showed up and basically shit up the meme with wank. Apparently they were still mad at us because once in 2009/2010 we made fun of them and disagreed with their opinion and said they weren't trans. The thing is literally no one remembered who they were and that we would made fun of someone for/not believe someone being trans, especially in that time frame, makes absolutely no sense. Eventually an anon dug up a link from Captalia in which there was wank involving them because they said something insensitive(I don't remember what). There were one or two memes who were involved in that wank, but like it wasn't a meme wide thing. It was speculated that zuikis was confused and thought we were Captalia, and they did actually disappear so after it was pointed out we're two separate communities, so who knows.

What about the weirdest headcanon that you yourself subscribe to and/or came up with?

And optionally, as a broader discussion, "headcanon" in fandom has become a very loose term by now. Quite often, what people call headcanon is no longer filling in blanks left by canon, but directly contradicting canon to customize a character to a fan's preference.

How do you feel about this?

Do you prefer the freedom of a very loose canon that allows you to make up a lot of headcanons, or the certainty of a detailed canon that nails down all the facts about characters?

Are there any characters where you prefer the fanon/headcanoned version over what's shown in the real canon?

in all honesty, i've only enjoyed the passive aggressive, repressed kinky daddy and/or brother fetish canada characterizations i've encountered here and there in fanfic.

actual canada is cute, sure. but 'cute, sure' is not a turn on for me nor a point of interest.

-Probably that England sings Raidioactive in the rain to the neighborhood children one. I still laugh when I think about it.

-Iceland and Norway's love of ugly sweaters. I don't know if it was weird necessarily, but people weren't really interested when I brought it up until Hima kinda made it canon

-I dislike that trend and I think it's stupid

-I don't dislike canon Bulgaria, but like anon above I got use to grumpy jerky punching Bulgaria and I kinda miss that.

and after thinking about that headcanon trend... hm, it does irritate me that people won't simply call it an AU, or admit that their interpretation is ooc.

i like AUs, and i also tend to enjoy smut with ooc-for-kink characters (e.g., the most common example'd be dark![character] to allow for some cruelty/immorality that [character] would never do in canon; although the opposite, nice![character] also happens... think when some very grim canon is suddenly turned to fluffy coffeeshop AU and all characters have such drastic history changes that they behave nothing like canon)

so i don't have much to complain about except i hate when people insist their really self-indulgent headcanon is canon. or worse, when they insist it's ~better~ than canon.

THE CREATOR OF THE SERIES DOESN'T KNOW WHAT'S RIGHT FOR THIS CHARACTER. I KNOW WHAT'S RIGHT FOR THIS CHARACTER. I AM MORE CANON THAN CANON.

I was going to go for a run tonight. Instead I wrote dumb rarepair fic.

And on top of all that, it technically isn't even rarepair fic, because it involves half of it getting rejected (gently).

AND IT DIDN'T EVEN TURN OUT GOOD. UGH.

Fuck it all.

(Maybe tomorrow, after looking at it with fresh eyes, I'll feel better. But for now ughhhh why did I waste my evening on this...)
