And yeah, I can totally see that happening with custom pins. My friends and I all do custom pins too and, at least in my circles, artists are very protective of their sources. Pin making is such a labor intensive process that factories get easily overwhelmed. And it's become so popular that once a good source is outed, they get swarmed and quality goes down.
I mostly collect Disney and Blizzard pins. I actually had a pin trading board at my artist alley table at Anime Expo, and quite a few people were interested enough in it, I might start doing it regularly.
