there was a whole thing recently (as in the last two weeks recently) where they harassed an artist off tumblr for drawing two of the ducks innocently kissing with cries of "it's INCEST" and "they're KIDS"

(the ducks were kids but the kiss was supposedly quite tame and the ducks were supposedly not related, I don't know, I don't watch it. but the anti liked to claim they were because all of the ducks had to be related or could be related. or something like that. this is not keeping in mind the general lifespan of ducks.)

i'd say "seriously?" but at this point it is more remarkable when tumblr isn't being fucking ridiculous.

perhaps these delicate souls should look up duck sex and the peculiarities of duck genitalia... which scientists speculate evolved as a result of the fact that apparently duck mating is very violent and male ducks essentially rape unwilling female ducks who struggle to get away. and that's where ducklings come from. yay. (secondary fun fact: did you know that the vast majority of birds do not have penises and instead copulate through a "cloacal kiss")

also, i'm 100% cool with fictional incest but: how the hell are all ducks related? i wasn't aware that ducks are a super-super-super endangered species on the brink of extinction in the world of ducktales. or that ducktales is in fact set on noah's ark.

I guess it was a kiss between Huey/Louie/Dewey and Webby. Huey's, Louie's and Dewey's mother is Della Duck, but their father is unknown even in the original comics. I guess they think that Webby has the same father as they do, or something like that. Her parents are unknown and she doesn't even exist in the original comics.

I have no idea why she would be related to them, but apparently the developers of the show have said that there will be no shipping because they want to keep all the kids like siblings to each other. But it's "like siblings", not real siblings.

Wait, what the...?!

As someone who watches the Ducktales reboot, just want to clarify that as far as i know (only a couple episodes in, but also watched the original show as a kid oh lawd my age is showing), only the triplets (Huey, Dewey, Louie) are related. Webby and Lena are their friends (and as far as i know, are exclusive to the reboot). So. Not all the ducks are related, contrary to the anti's belief(!).

Also, i give no flying f***s if the artist wanted to ship any two of the triplets together, it's their ship and i want to let them ship it. (also, being that breed of jerkwad would be majorly hypocritical on my part because i have a s**t ton of underage incest ships.) What really gets me is the ship might not have been incest at all and they got run off because people couldn't do a basic fact-check on Google/a wiki?! What the frick-frack.

...and this isn't even going into whether kids smooch. Because -gasp- all children think other children are icky and have cooties, and couldn't possibly grasp that 1) kissing is a way to show affection, and 2) it's possible to...like-like someone enough to want to smoosh lips (or...bills in this case??). Especially children that regularly break into ancient ruins, outsmart scheming villains, and narrowly avoid death-traps on a regular basis. -insert eyeroll- Also, in the reboot, Louie flatters/borderline flirts with a waitress in one episode (it's a schmoozing tactic for him, but definitely illustrates the kids aren't Actually Pure Cinnamon Rolls^TM), so I don't think it's over-reaching to believe some conception of romance is within their comprehension or ability.

To my knowledge, after being so goddamn confused by the recent shipwanks that I read a ton of "anti-anti" blogs ("educating-antis" was one I started with), a ton of antis (including the APH ones popping up now) like to go after ships that could be perceived as "like siblings" or "close" "like siblings" (this also includes the major Klance vs. anti-Sheith shipwar in Voltron fandom) because they consider "found family" headcanons to be more valuable and "wholesome" and "pure", or something. And they want to protect "adopted kids", or something (even though lbr this does shit for actually adopted kids in fandom who disagree with the antis) but that's their "excuse" for wanting to "eradicate" those ships anyhow

So an "anti" might argue USUK is "like siblings" therefore they absolutely shouldn't be shipped because a "found family" scenario would be better, even though the nation's ages are all over the fucking place and even innacurate to history in many circumstances, and because Himaruya's interpretation is apparently law to said antis now. Even though, like, the whole past drama around South Korea, for example. Apparently being respectful to history and minority groups is out the window now when it comes to antis and their potential interpretations of "incest" :/

(I don't mind Himaruya's interpretations but it really grates on me when antis insist their interpretations or Himaruya's are the only ones that matters, even going against people of those ethnicities/countries, or adopted kids, who give their own opinions. Antis in other fandoms like Voltron also apparently like to "take away" someone's ethnicity / race / disability / survivor status etc. card too when someone says something they disagree with, like that isn't racist/etc. at all?? I just. Don't understand this anymore.)

(Also, they also view anything with even a potential age gap as "pedophillic". So USUK for example would already be "pedophillic" because "England raised America" and "has an age gap" with him.

This wank also occurs in YOI fandom, where Otayuri or Otabek/Yurio, a very popular ship, has a ton of antis because Otabek is 18 and Yurio is 16. An age gap of ~2 years, possibly even 1 or so, that stretches past the age of consent is apparently "pedophillic" now if they "met" when one was a "child". Yes, I'm serious.

For some reason, this reason absolutely does not apply to Klance in Voltron fandom, even though it'd also apply; and they go after Sheith for being "pedophillic" with a slightly larger age gap instead, and it seems many major shipwanks of the moment are a result of either Voltron fandom, or Reylo's popularity in Star Wars atm.)

klance is one of those ships that got ruined for me by the overwhelming amount of whiny, bossy, judgmental, hateful and now laughably hypocritical fans shipping it. :|

it's extra ridiculous because honestly - and i'm saying this though i don't personally care about sheith - in my opinion the canon deliberately teases sheith most and that is likely the ship that the creators themselves prefer. and considering how avatar went, there's even a chance they'll take it to canon since this team isn't afraid of a canon gay endgame, which would be pretty cool. and again, i don't even like the ship personally, but astonishingly it is in fact still possible to be happy for other fans and not a spiteful ship-bashing little asshole who can't let other people have fun.

voltron, like attack on titan, had this golden fandom beginning where it seemed like everyone wasn't taking it seriously, lots of jokes and some kink and all sorts of ships, whatever.

then the fandom inquisition happened. can't say it was unexpected, just disappointing all the same.

you know what, i literally need a nice, dark sin zone of impure fans only. i don't even need the impurity, i just need a place free of the hypocritical moral panic of these nasty dolores umbridges of fandom who armor themselves in the trappings of fluff in order to viciously attack and/or control others.

i don't care what you like in fiction, that doesn't make you a bad person. going around reveling in making other people feel bad to prop up your crooked high horse - that's what makes a bad person.
