part 367 bears and wolves oh my

YOU DID IT, I'M SO PROUD OF YOU. Well, it's been a year. I hope it was a good one for you--and that 2018 is even better! And maybe we'll finally get that fansub of even one of the musicals... just maybe.

Enjoy part 367!

I really disliked almost all the voices in the Fruits Basket dub, but then I... also kinda disliked most of the voices in the original Japanese, too. Like the English Tohru seemed a little too sarcastic and aware??, but the Japanese Tohru was extremely high-pitched and a little too airheaded... If they could somehow find a middleground between the voices in both versions I think they would have captured the characters much better.

Except Kyo. Both Kyos were perfect.

Dang now I wanna reread fruits basket

IT'S VERY GOOD

It's a long series (20something books) and sadly out of print afaik, but if you can find copies you should give it a try! It's a high school romance with eastern-zodiac-themed fantasy elements, it was baby's first manga :'D

And the manga is waaaay better than the anime in my opinion, especially once it finds its art style and settles in.

Good luck! If you can't find it there I'm sure there are scanlations floating around... they may have better scan quality and font choices than Tokyopop ever did, too, pff...

OH OH ALSO

While I know all the stuff 4Kids censored and changed and rendered incomprehensible about One Piece, there was one change that I actually liked: There was this villain they met who had it in for Zoro, and in the original he was chomping on an enormous cigar. Can't have that in a kids' show so they edited out the cigar... but left his mouth wide open with smoke billowing out. That combined with how the character was relentlessly following Our Heroes around made him legitimately creepier than he would have been with just the cigar!
