I loved Coco and ugly cried during it but yeah, the Disney movies always winning just... blurgh.

It's the same deal with the Annies. It's not really a celebration of anyone's new accomplishments anymore with this juggernaut always in the room!

The Oscar voters generally don't care about animation and just vote for whatever their grandkids are yelling about most, and their grandkids sure aren't gonna be yelling about The Breadwinner or Loving Vincent, so. :'T

iirc the judges from the Oscar's have admitted to never watching any animation movie and just pick whatever their kids or grandkids liked so there's that.

Yeah, the Oscars sucks when it comes to animation. I mean, I'm sure popularity plays into the selection of the live action awards too but there's at least the appearance of consideration to less commercial films.

I liked Coco, but this Disney/Pixar thing is getting ridiculous. Coco was a great film, but in no way as artistically daring as Loving Vincent or The Breadwinner.
