Liked the first book, adore the concept. These remind me a bit of one of my favorite books, The Manual of Detection. I kind of hope surreal noir can become its own genre; I'd love more along these lines.

Love the writing from the excerpt. This is exactly how I like my grimdark - not trying too hard to be cool, not purple-prosed, a blunt and beautiful writing style imbued with a natural grotesque humor. Also see my fondness for surreal settings.
