YOU DID IT, I'M SO PROUD OF YOU. Well, it's been a year. I hope it was a good one for you--and that 2018 is even better! And maybe we'll finally get that fansub of even one of the musicals... just maybe.

Enjoy part 367!

Re: itt: an entire dollar, an entire DOLLAR, for your thoughts

I dunno about traumatizing, but the German series Dark (available on Netflix) wound me in a fog of subtle but persistent existential dread that has yet to lift. Wouldn't say it's sadistic, just a few dead kids and minor gore; the real heft of the "horror" is this gradual sinking sensation of powerlessness to escape, nor even comprehend, our immutable fates.

However, it is more of a brooding shifting thinky-think kinda thing, all creep no adrenaline no dash-n-slash. One of my friends watched and loved it as I do, but another thought it was boring, so ymmv.

Ooooh, thanks for the rec, I will definitely run it by Assby as something to add to our queue. We do like dreadful thinky thinks, like one of our favorites that we've watched so far was the movie Contagion. That definitely was slower paced, not too much action, but just the fact that it's possible and pretty realistic just leaves you full of anxiety.

I loved Contagion! It's the sort of movie that makes me want to be a crazy survivalist lady who keeps 6 months water and canned food in the basement.

Were there any others that stood out in your horror-a-thon? I like horror, am fine with all manner of depravity as well.

Oh, and a few other dreadful thinky thinks I can think of off the top of my head: Coherence, The Blackcoat's Daughter, Moon, They Look Like People, The Gift, 10 Cloverfield Lane

Honorable mention to Looper which... on the one hand, there is a certain sequence in this movie that I rate among the highest level nightmare fuel a movie ever gave me, on the other hand there are a few plot holes that I somehow cannot suspend disbelief for.

Contagion is seriously everything I want and more in a movie. Ngl back when I lived in NY, I kept a Go-bag in my bedroom just in case of emergencies with bottled water, first aid, flashlight, batteries, flint and stuff. I really should make a better one eventually.

We haven't really seen anything that has surpassed Contagion just yet, we're still looking. I've seen 10 Cloverfield Lane, that one's pretty good. And Moon is such a trip, lol. I haven't seen the others yet. There's one on our list right now called Carriers that looks kinda hokey but hopefully it's full of horror and awfulness that'll satisfy the itch.

Looper omg... are you talking about that scene where the guy is strapped to the chair and pieces start disappearing off him? Cause that stayed with me for a while.
