YOU DID IT, I'M SO PROUD OF YOU. Well, it's been a year. I hope it was a good one for you--and that 2018 is even better! And maybe we'll finally get that fansub of even one of the musicals... just maybe.

Enjoy part 367!

What are your Halloween plans for October? Watching scary movies? Decorating your house?

Definitely watching scary movies! Though I'm not sure which ones. I want to do a rewatch of Død snø and Trolljegeren, and maybe I'll rewatch Livide too. But I'm not sure what to tackle as far as new stuff.

Halloween is on a weeknight, so I won't really have energy to do a proper costume. Looks like I'll be slapping on my raven mask for the fourth year in a row.

I'm going to try making a pumpkin pie.

Also gearing up to go to war - by which I mean, the fall book sale. But before that, I need to sort through my books and... donate most of them back, or ebay them, or something. I fully admit these book sales are less about bargains than pretty much breaking even or donating to the library because I usually over-buy, but that's ok with me.

I enjoy the experience, and it always feels extra special to me to buy a book I want to keep for only 50 cents (cough even if I also bought 20+ other books that I will shortly return). A couple of my favorite books have come to me by way of book sale, and it feels so serendipitous versus ordering them online.

ahh yeah! finding a book you want at a booksale is so much more exciting than just buying it online. its the Hunt, I guess (plus buying online usually you have to pay shipping)

Nothing just yet! I have a few stacks of horror books I bought over the summer that I have to go through, they'll be on there for sure.

Are you planning on watching/reading anything scary next month?

I think I'll re-read Uzumaki! I found my copy of it while cleaning recently. :)

Other than that... idk. There's a lot of Stephen King that I haven't read. Maybe I'll see what the library has for his stuff.

O I've never read it! How is it?

What have you read of King's? Maybe I can give some recommendations!

It's pretty unnerving! I will never look at spirals again without thinking of it. ;) But anyway, well... It's hard to describe it I guess, but let's just say I have zero regrets about having a physical copy.

re: King, hmm... I went looking at his bibliography and it looks like I read more than I expected, but there's still a lot I haven't read
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_King_bibliography

I've read:
-Carrie (liked it)
-Salem's Lott (liked it)
-The Shining (loved it)
-The Stand (loved it but probably won't re-read any time soon)
-The Dead Zone (favourite)
-Firestarter (favourite)
-Dark Tower: The Gunslinger (it was OK, will re-read the rest of the series but not a priority)
-Pet Sematary (liked it)
-IT (loved it)
-The Eyes of the Dragon (liked it)
-Misery (do not remember a thing about it)
-Insomnia (did not finish, I got bored, which was disappointing because I liked the premise)
-Cell (eh)

It seems I've managed to hit many of the old classics but not so much of the more recent (or even recent-ish) ones. Suggestions?

Haha well you've read most of the ones I have!

Let's see..

I would recommend Cujo! Although it's very dark and depressing and rather unpleasant.

Doctor Sleep, the sequel to the Shining, you might like if you can toss aside any notions that it will be scary or thematically similar to The Shining. It's definitely a "modern" King novel. It isn't bad but I went into it expecting The Shining But Danny is Grown Up and got... like... modern psychic vampires and a precocious child and AA meetings. I realize I am not selling this book very well lol.

Ooh, I've been meaning to read Cujo for ages. Maybe I'll get around to it this upcoming month. :D

I didn't know Doctor Sleep is a sequel to The Shining. :O Thanks for the note that they aren't very similar in spite of a connection. I think I might be curious enough to check it out anyway.

The prologue with young Danny--old Danny is very "Shining"-esque but once there's the time jump it becomes a completely different story in terms of tone. Again not necessarily bad, just, absolutely not what I was anticipating.
