When I turned 7 I could go if I went with my older brother and stayed with a group. When I was 9 I could go with just my friends and didn't have to stick with my brother.

Eventually. And it was such a relief because everyone else that I knew was able to go without parents way before I could. I was so sick of being uncool!

for a while i think some moms joined in so they'd all be having mom-friend time while us kids got to be together, and then when we got older my mom was like the only supervisor, but i didn't care because then we'd split the candy between us so it wasn't so heavy for me alone while the other kids lugged their giant bags, haha
