Aughhh... I'm working on an exchange fic, and it involves a pairing I've never written, and one of the characters is one that I haven't written in years.

I can manage it, but it'll be quite a challenge! We'll see how this goes. (How the hell do you write this guy, I really don't know...)

I just signed up to be part of an Extra Life marathon and I'm excited and nervous.

A month or two ago, a new mutual I got on tumblr posted about a rarepair I really like so I replied to their post saying I liked it too. I wanted to be friends, and they asked me what else I shipped so I told them happily. And then. They responded with the single word "Enlightening."

And I've been scared of them since.

I lost pretty much all confidence to make original posts about this fandom we share.

I feel stupid letting one word have this kind of effect on me because I bet they didn't even think too much about their reply and have even forgotten about the whole thing. But based on posts they've made since then, I definitely like the kind of thing they don't. And yet they still follow me and occasionally like stuff I reblog.

In the meantime, this person has gotten really popular for another uncommon ship we share. I disagree with their take sometimes and would also like to post my ideas too, but they word all of their posts as if their ideas are The One And Only Way To Read The Characters and my confidence is zero.

This is kind of why I don't do Tumblr any more. I mean, it's just hard to tell. Is this person gonna start friendly-reminder-I'm-offended drama if you post a differing interpretation/headcanon/opinion/fic idea from what they like? Or was that comment a one-off thing, like they're not interested in talking with you further but they're also not going to get up in your business? The trouble is, if there is any sort of dust-up the rule is the person who claims to be offended always wins.

Modern fandom sucks. I'm sorry, anon.
