We can finally bring back some excellent slang, like "That sounds berries to me!" or "I guess I'd describe myself as a cancelled stamp." Have a good year... and don't take any wooden nickels!

When you do, make sure you listen to the Complete Concept Recordign (or "Jekyll & Hyde: The Original Work") which is the one that has Bring on the Men. They cut a lot of the music & rearranged things for Broadway, including replacing Bring on the Men with a song called Good and Evil. Which is just... boring and like "HEY DID YOU GET THAT THIS SHOW IS ABOUT BEING GOOD AND EVIL, DID YOU GET IT."

It is!! Well. In a way. Basically in this version when he turns into Hyde he's like hot damn I better go find some prostitutes! And then murder some people! And get a big pimpin coat! I think the "Complete Work" version is a lot more sensual/sexy than the Broadway version. Like if you listen to "Dangerous Game" from the Complete Work, then compare it to the Broadway version, it feels like a totally different song.

I think in the novel they never even explain exactly what Jekyll's "shame" is and what Hyde gets up to all day (so naturally, one assumes it's sex, gay, or gay sex) so it just escalates from "kicked a kid" to "BEATS OLD MAN TO DEATH" iirc and it's like...ok...? and this from a novel that's very very tell not show yet for all its tedious infodumps it never. freaking. said.

(I was forced to read it for school and do not recommend. It seriously doesn't hold up.)

his voice in "I Need to Know" is like buttah
