part 369 prohibition cocktails

Meme, you did it! And on Christmas, too!! How fancy. How was your year? It's almost the new year and I don't know about anyone else, but I'm excited to enter the 20s. We can finally bring back some excellent slang, like "That sounds berries to me!" or "I guess I'd describe myself as a cancelled stamp." Have a good year... and don't take any wooden nickels!

Enjoy part 369!

Growing up is realizing that you are not the protagonist of the exciting story, but the redshirt background character who's going to get fucked up by if not the virus itself then the lasting economic damage

:D

i got freaked out yesterday when i came home from Ulta only to get a "A Message to Ulta Beauty Guests about the Coronavirus" hours later; "what are the chances they announce a worker or shopper who contracted the virus was there around the time i just so happened to visit?"

it was just a message assuring people they're sanitizing things and such

Oof, I wish I stocked up on my pantry staples last week when there were no cases in my state. Canned goods are gooooone.

I work from home all the time so I don't have a lot of exposure to people. One plus side of freelancin'!

It's kind of weird. I do freelance writing and today I've had about 10 requests related to the virus directly or otherwise, whether it's content literally about the virus or articles about how to work from home, tools you need to work from home, how to keep kids occupied if they aren't in school, how to stretch recipes, etc.

If you can, stay home from work or work from home. If you have to go anywhere, make sure you are washing your hands.

Make homemade sanitizer if you can't find any. DON'T TOUCH YOUR FACE OR EYES OR MOUTH OR NOSE. Unless you have super clean hands and are putting on a face mask to relax, that is. Drink lots of water, make sure you're getting all your vitamins to stay as healthy as possible. Don't go into crowds or groups if you can help it. Do social distancing if you have to be around anyone, as much as you can.

... basically flu season protocol but amped up!

orz i'm stressed about all these school closings.

i have one friend who now has no one to watch her kids, and she works in health care so she can't just stay home.

and I'm worried about my nephew getting enough to get with school being out, since his breakfast & lunch come from the school.

Sitting here watching this horror gameplay. My dad's bed is directly above this floor, so I'm used to hearing the bedsprings squeak as he turns in his sleep; naturally I didn't think anything of it when I heard it just now. Then I realized I'm home alone for the weekend.

perfume?

(Anonymous) 2020-03-13 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
perfume thoughts in this INTERESTING... week...

Bewitched, a scent which originally smelled like mustard then turned into plaster, now starts off like bright chalky bubblegum?? which then turns into uh, plaster and mustard with bubblegum underneath. Weird. Madar is now creamy and perfect and exactly what I wanted, so yay! Just needed an extra few weeks to settle.

But in new-perfume news, I bought I Believe in Mary Worth from the 1692 Friday the 13th catalog. Notes: you may also know her as Bloody Mary. Her fragrance is somber and haunting. Soft violet petals tinged with tarnished silver and cold glass, the flicker of candlelight in a dim room, and the terror of an unknown face peering back from the mirror.

Someone described the scent as truly creepy so I couldn't resist!!

Also Poesie is discontinuing some scents that I love! Madchenland and now County Line. Supposedly they're doing a "resurrection" type thing in April, but since the "Emma" line went on sale and they no longer offer free shipping on all orders (and I suspect that prices are going up) I'm going to get a small bottle of each with a Poesie order today. (Although ughh should I wait! County Line will be part of the spring collection as a limited, she said...)

Once I decide what/if I want from the Emma line, anyway.

https://www.poesieperfume.com/emma-collection

Better Merry Than Wise -- fresh basil, juicy pink grapefruit, green jasmine buds, crisp muslin skirts

Knightley -- a rosy heart of geranium bourbon wrapped in warm amber woods and lightened with a sparkling blend of lemon, cardamom and sage flower

Perfect Happiness -- crisp green tea, slices of wedding cake topped with coconut, a hint of mint + ginger, sandalwood, marshmallow musk

Strawberry Fields For Emma -- earthy green oakmoss, wild strawberries, Italian bergamot, lily of the valley, galbanum

Such a Heart - a juicy blend of lychee + tangerine, mimosa pompoms, pink cotton candy

Honestly? They all sound so interesting. I don't usually get sample sets of everything but since I'm "on time" with a collection for once, I think I'll get all 5 then see what I like most.

Okay so I went with the Emma sample set, plus the $8 2ml bottle of Madchenland. I don't have enough for the $20 bottle right now but maybe she'll bring it back in the fall, if it happens to sell out soon.

First coronavirus case detected in my country. Well, meme, it was nice knowing you all. ;_;

Though truth be told I'm more scared of the people freaking out and literally hoarding stuff from the supermarket than the virus itself. Honestly, they had to limit how much they can sell to people BECAUSE everyone and their granny where buying everything, masks where being sold to outrageous prices (around US$15+ a piece), and hilariously people just stocking up on toilet paper.

Schools being out is sad to me because I know that my BIL will not be like.. doing ANYTHING to keep my nephew's brain active all month. Ther'es so many free resources out there, including a free lesson plan every day from Scholastic, workbooks, etc, but, I know he won't freaking do them. Ugh.

I'm kinda like

well

okay

about everyone talking about how their lives are so different because quarantining, self-quarantine, etc, like "omg how do I keep occupied," "ways to keep yourself busy at home" etc

I uhhh

leave the home maybe once or twice a week to do an obligation

otherwise work from home, have stuff delivered, don't really see people often

like

nothing's different except I did my shopping on my own this week because I knew nothing I put on the list would be in stock so I may as well head in on my own.

I'M KINDA ANNOYED because I love the idea of getting to binge watch or take up a hobby or something because I'm at home suddenly

gdi
