even though iran was pretty young when they first met, she still remembers ancient israel exceptionally well, and their relationship really solidified in her mind what hebrew is "supposed" to sound like
she didn't notice it before the eighties, but now, whenever israel opens his mouth, it just sounds wrong. she still can't put her finger on why, exactly (yeah his voice is annoying. no that's not it)
he's already uncannily similar to his father and it's really jarring whenever she catches herself staring and has to remind herself of their reality, of when she is and where they are
(israel knows she knew his dad but he'd (correctly) assumed asking about him would hurt too much. now it's too late. all he can do is shove this fact as deep down as possible and try not not think about it Ever Again, only to have it resurface when he can't sleep and in other most inopportune times)
