part 335 summer nights (tell me more tell me more)
Like did he have a car? Dodo--dodo--dodo... yeah! How is your July going so far, meme? Good? Bad? Okay? Scrumtrulescent? ... Question mark? This is a very rambling post today, I'm sorry, I'm in a tired rush. A tired tired summer rush. Which, in my professional opinion, is the most annoying kind of rush. I prefer a crisp winter rush! But oh well.
Enjoy part 335!

[Okay no, maybe not. Maybe if he could sit still long enough to wait for them. Well, he still thinks he's pretty good]
Yeah, good luck~
[He'll drop both bags and the sword by the edge of the water, freeing up his arms to carry more, and give a quick nod before he disappears off toward some nearby trees to collect wood]
[Maybe he'll be ready to talk by the time he gets back, maybe]
no subject
[picks up your bags and sword to move them to a safer, more concealed area, really Spain how do you still have all your supplies?]
[after making sure their things are safe, he'll build a makeshift fishing pole and strip down to wade in the water]
[fishy fishy fishy fishy]
no subject
[He makes it to the trees easy enough, starts collecting everything that looks big enough to burn for a while until his arms are loaded]
[And stops for a while, leaning back against a tree with full arms, closing his eyes. It's not really fair, he should say something, he knows he can trust you. Maybe when they're eating...]
[Alright]
[Comes back out and returns to their spot, dropping the wood in a pile. Now just time to light i-]
... Hey Greece, you don't have a lighter or anything, do you?
no subject
[meanwhile, he's busy wrestling a fish into submission]
[pokes his head above water]
Hn...? I don't. Though rubbing sticks might work...
no subject
[Looks down at the sticks]
[Back to you strangling a fish]
... I don't think that's gonna work.
[This doesn't look like the right kind of wood and what are they supposed to do n- wait he's got it, he's going to hunt around for where you put their bags and pull out a few items from his own]
[There's some alcohol pads in this bag, he's just going to pull them out and use the liquid to wet the remains of his blanket. Throw the blanket over the wood]
[And shoot his taser at it, looking back at you with a grin when it catches. Damn he's good]
no subject
Did you need--
[And leaps back with a surprised yelp as the taser shoots again, you are really trigger happy, aren't you?]
no subject
[Your jumping gets a laugh out of him, and he sets the thing off to the side as he moves forward to rearrange the wood as it starts burning. The smoke it's giving off probably isn't going to help keep them hidden, but right now he's just thinking about getting something real to eat]
You wanna clean them?
[That sword he's picked up is nice, but probably not the best for a small job like this]
no subject
[shoots you a dirty look, he didn't think it was that funny, especially since he's the one around water this time, and approaches carefully with his eyes on the taser]
I can attempt it... although I don't exactly have the correct instruments to do so...
[still keeping you and the taser in his field of vision, he settles himself behind a rather large rock, using it as a table of sorts in order to work on the fish]
no subject
[He'll just plop himself on his ass next to it and hold out his hands to start warming them up. Never too much warmth, even though it's really not that chilly out here]
Gotta be better than eating scales anyway...
[And he's not watching you at all, eyes on the fire as he starts relaxing, settling leaning back on his hands once they're warm enough. He shouldn't be so trusting with someone holding a knife behind him, but he's totally unconcerned]
Probably won't be the most comfortable out here with rocks and stuff. Ay, I wish they gave us pillows or something.
no subject
[he has to now divide his attention between you and the fish, giving slightly more attention to the task at hand, carefully maneuvering the blade of his machete to slice the skin from the flesh and empty the bowels, and even though the rough and large weapon is less than idea for this job, he still manages to clean them well enough, eventually bringing them over to the crackling fire once he's done]
[settles next to you with the sword at his side and offers you one of the two prepared fish]
no subject
[Maybe he should have figured out what they were going to cook these with instead of just zoning out in front of the fire. Oh well]
[Accepts the fish and moves a hand right to the fire, grabbing onto a thin stick that hasn't caught yet and tugging it out. And just going to impale the poor fish on it and hold it over the fire, then grab at a second stick for you and hold it out with a grin so you can do the same]
Too bad we didn't think to carry seasoning and stuff in our pockets~
[As if that would have been a totally natural thought]
no subject
[accepts the stick and imitates your skewering, setting the fish over the fire and watching the fire work its magic]
If necessary... the forest might have provided natural seasonings...
[slowly turns the fish over to cook the other side]
...but would you care to wait while we searched?
[and back to the first side, the dancing flames almost hypnotic and calming, allowing him to settle and start leaning against your shoulder]]
no subject
Nah, boring fish sounds better than having to move again now.
[Watches the fire alongside, turning his fish when necessary to keep it from burning. Maybe now, when they're both relaxed like this...]
Hey, Greece?
[Pauses for a moment, trying to collect his thoughts, figure out what he wants to say. It's slow coming, and even when he speaks he's still directing his words at the fire]
If I almost did something kind of bad but didn't in the end that doesn't really make it bad, right?
no subject
[brings his fish closer to inspect it, but returns it to the fire upon deciding it's still a bit too raw for him]
Hn...?
[gives you as much time as you need to think and formulate your question, and although he's curious, he doesn't give the appearance of it for fear of pushing too hard and closing you off. and even after you finish speaking, he allows a minute or two of silence to drift by before finally replying]
...it depends on how you wish to perceive yourself. Whether you wish to judge your actions or your thoughts. Whether you want to be bad. In the end, whatever you want will be your answer.
no subject
What if...
[There's another pause, this time longer, seconds ticking by almost uncomfortably, at least for him. More shifting, feeling a little restless despite how exhausted he feels. Finally continuing on, hesitant]
What if I wanted to do something bad?
[Swallows hard after getting it out, and then pulls back his own fish, suddenly needing to do something other than just waiting for an answer. It's done enough, he starts messing with it, trying to move it around to cool it faster to eat]
no subject
Action alone is not considered good or bad... it is the intent behind the action that dictates such...
[and he finally turns to face you]
If you want to do it... there must be a reason. What is your reason?
no subject
The reason...?
[It didn't feel rational at all, what he was thinking holding England's knife, knowing he was at his mercy. The fish stops moving but he's still not returning the look, instead looking down at the ground between his knees. He's trying to think of a reason, anything good enough to explain away his behavior, but there's nothing]
I don't know.
[Another swallow, and he finally turns his head, lips lifting in a smile that's not entirely convincing]
Anyway it was just a dumb thought! Let's eat, then we can put the fire out before it gets too dark and everyone else sees it.
no subject
If you're this concerned... it isn't dumb.
[don't try to hide behind a smile, Spain... he can see right through you]
[tries to make you feel better the only way he can think of right now and presses his lips against yours]
no subject
[There's only a soft sort of noise in response. He is concerned, but now he's worrying you too and he doesn't want that, what he wants is-]
[Exactly that. Comforting and reassuring and familiar, something to ground him and bring him out of these thoughts, at least for a few minutes. He returns it almost too eagerly, the arm not holding the stick with the fish wrapping tight around your shoulders and holding close. He's not trying to deepen it, not trying for anything more than just to take some comfort in this]
no subject
[returns the gesture, trying to pull you as close as possible to give you physically what he couldn't with words or emotion]
[don't worry about him, Spain, just relax for tonight and let your worries fade]
no subject
[He's unhurried, continuing on gently a while longer before finally pulling back, sighing quietly as he presses his forehead to yours]
Thanks...
[One more quick peck and he pulls back, checking his fish again. At least now their food might be actually cooked when they eat it. And the smile's back a little brighter now, finally reaching his eyes again. Maybe it's a little more hesitant than usual, but for now he's fine again]
Think they're done?
no subject
[returns to resting his head against your shoulder as he inspects his fish once more, bringing it to his lips and taking a quick nibble]
I believe so. As you say, it needs seasoning, but... still surprisingly good...
[that's enough talk, time to eat nom nom nom]
no subject
[There's a little snickering behind his words, but he can't really help but agree when he starts eating too. Something warm at least, finally]
[He'll make short work of this fish too, picking it totally clean. There hasn't been all that much to eat out here, but hopefully this will be enough to last a little while]
[And then he's licking his lips clean and tossing the remains and that stick into the fire, cuddling up against you to wait for you to finish as well]
no subject
[gently nuzzles your jaw with the tip of his nose]
Shall we sleep in turns with the fire going... or put out the fire and find better shelter...?
no subject
Dunno if it's a good idea to have it going all night, the light and stuff...
[But it's also nice and warm and as much as they shouldn't make their location obvious to anyone else-]
Maybe as long as someone's watching it it'll be okay~ Are you really tired...?
[Because he totally is, and it's pretty obvious. But if you are too he'll try to keep himself awake to keep watch instead]
