Just a reminder that sign ups are open until the end of the part.

To answer some questions about the timing, each real life day = one game day.

The day/night posts will happen in live and dead hour, respectively, so people in different time zones have new content to play with. The day/night cycle will largely not affect how you play, it just means the vote kill is announced on the night post, and the killer(s) kills are announced on the day post (dawn).

There will also be situational threads posts either with the results or interspersed throughout the day. Players are also encouraged to make their own!

If you can't play for a day or two that's absolutely fine. The only roles who have a needed presence are the killer(s), and even that can be decided by a random choice if they're unable to play. All that's needed for an action submission is a message to this account; role playing it out isn't necessary.

I think we've come to the conclusion that anons will have to make a sock puppet account just so we can message them their role information. If you would rather it come through email and avoid account creation, I can certainly do that instead.

What the anon above said is correct. Also, the inability to tell when the anon in question would be online to receive and delete the email causes problems.

Maybe you guys could create an account specifically for anons who want to participate and use that instead of picpsammer? that way it's not like "oh I logged into picspammer to post a picture, here's some murder mystery stuff," you would only log in if you wanted to participate?

I can do that! I think that's an acceptable compromise. But how will anons get the password? I don't know if I'm comfortable posting it on the meme.

I don't think it's that big of an issue? for me, anyway... maybe if specific anons do have a problem with it, they can make their own sock account? and then if they don't want to, they can use the other one?

It could be if you want to take the game very seriously, but people will start to find out who each other are as time goes on anyway.

it is, it's the exact same issue as using picspammer (which is why i don't think there's any point to making it): any shared account is going to have to have its login information posted somewhere everyone (= people not using their own personal account) can see it, which means any messages there can be read by EVERYONE so inclined, so the organiser can't really use that account to give out any secret information like "hey you, you're it"

which kind of makes it a dead giveaway that the murderer isn't one of the anons using that account. if everyone has to use their own account, the murderer could be anyone including any anon!

Well, couldn't people then decide on their own if they really want the possibility of being a killer? Like "I want to play, but I want the chance to be a killer," so they would make a sockpuppet if they want. And if they would just enjoy playing otherwise, use the public account? If that makes sense.

probably lots of people playing don't want to be the killer (considering anyone who does, and will be active enough, is asked to say so) but it's not really a mystery for anyone playing if everyone who doesn't want to be it wave a big public "it's not me" flag!

i… don't understand how having a public account will make you more anonymous, anon. if anything, it's the opposite - if you are sharing an account then anyone who logs in can see information about you: when you logged in and where you logged in from.

i'm not above anon, but i guess i'm saying the same thing only i'll try to say it nicer. in the time that we had this discussion, you could have created an account. it's not difficult, you'll only have to log into it a few times at most, it won't cause the issue of compromising the 'secrecy' aspect of the game, you can abandon it afterward just as you would abandon this proposed public account.
