part 347 dimensions of sight and sound

and of mind. Do do do do do do do do do do do.

How was your end-of-December-into-January time, meme? Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Or light a candle in your window in the hopes that Himaruya would update again instead of leaving us behind like an 19th century light house keeper's wife whose husband has gone off to sea? ... Did you?

Enjoy part 347!

They're close in canon and clearly feel comfortable around each other and they have a good deal in common, neither of them are perfect and they both have flaws but they're able to deal with each other as they are. Both of them are such dumb dorks, and there's potential for complicated messy situations in their relationship too because of both of their flaws and their shared history, even in canon their relationship hasn't been all sunshine and daises after all. A good amount of history to explore too.

I was waiting for someone to say this one. I know so many people who can't stand this word.

ngl, i'm in it for the historically inaccurate gay pirate fantasy

pirates of the caribbean imprinted on me too deeply during my formative years

and aside from that i like the idea of england being an irritating drunk tourist on spain's beaches. i also like that spain seems generally pretty mellow but has expressed canon irritation toward england even in the modern day.

I just really like the way they play off each other and sort of round out each others' personalities, and how they trust each other so much.

Also the whole Italy-constantly-barging-in-on-Germany's-showers thing. That too.

Chuckle and moist and crusty do nothing to me. I'm also fine with smirk. I understand why many people who read lots of fanfiction are annoyed with its overuse but honestly, some people DO smirk. I'm not going to waste the energy trying to beat around the bush when describing the smile of someone who smirks. They're smirking.

I don't mind "moist". It just makes me think of a delicious cake.

penis, vagina?

like i think a lot of people don't outright dislike them but find them awkward/funny sounding but i'm of the mind that if it's a penis call it a penis - i've suffered through too many flowery porn euphemisms to care for frills

They're dorks and kind of want to like each other in modern day, but animosity is still there

Russia thinks he's so much more mature than this kid, but stoops to his level all the time

For me they're not so much awkward or funny sounding as it is that they aren't hot. It's not hot to say "he put his penis in her vagina".

This is one pairing I like more in AUs without the history.

They're always portrayed as rivals in human AUs like highschool AUs, but honestly I think they'd actually be friends without all that history. Even with all of the history they still act more like frenemies in canon. They're both fun-loving and often cheerful, I think they would get along.

i'm cool with cock and pussy and cunt as substitutes.

it's when you run into the "glistening man-jet taxied down her landing strip to dock in the wet hangar of her sex" that i feel a headache coming on

Not a word but a sentence. We lived in Germany for a while and my mom sometimes still uses 'Verstehst du?' automatically when asking someone if they understand. She's confused many an American this way.

Foreign, eh?

Mine's lechuga. It means "never give up'" and i think that's so beautiful. Lechuga. Something to keep in mind for those dark and difficult times in life when you're *crying because Romano is dead*

Well, there's still plenty of Den/Nor about. A lot of the fanart is nice, the doujinshi varies (but edges toward nice), and the fic is meh, though it's possible I'm just looking in the wrong places.

Sweden/Norway, I haven't seen any fic in quite a while. There's a little bit of fanart now and then, though. And there's still doujinshi being put out - mind you, from what I remember it's all one circle, but at least it's there, y'know?

Norway/Iceland - Occasionally fanart though more likely JFen than WFen. Some nice doujinshi. I don't see much fic for it and what's out there is usually pretty meh. I think that there was more being written for these two before it was officially stated that they're brothers, though I might be mistaken there.

Netherlands/Denmark - I haven't seen anything with this pairing in ages.

Maybe because "chuckles" sounds a bit like Chucky, or Chuck E. Cheese, neither of which are exactly appealing prospects. I've also always thought it seemed like an old man sound, and seemed a bit out of place when applied to younger people.
