part 347 dimensions of sight and sound

and of mind. Do do do do do do do do do do do.

How was your end-of-December-into-January time, meme? Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Or light a candle in your window in the hopes that Himaruya would update again instead of leaving us behind like an 19th century light house keeper's wife whose husband has gone off to sea? ... Did you?

Enjoy part 347!

I've already been twice, but there are still so many more things I would like to see in addition to visiting my usual favorites again (Provence, baby, I miss you), like the Loire Valley.

Japan

I really really really wish to visit Japan someday

for a full variety of reasons, too... though, my interest in anime/manga does play a big part in having introduced me to Japanese culture, I've always liked the thought of travelling, visiting "far-off countries" and learning more about them and the people who live there. I think part of that is due to watching many a Disney films as a child (Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Aladdin, I'm looking at you) and having rarely traveled outside of Florida in general but yes.

Pokemon introduced me to the concept of anime/manga coming from Japan in general and Digimon introduced various places of Japan to me, too, because so much of the art/scenery in it is based on real locations - the whole of Odaiba in general, the Rainbow Bridge, the ferris wheel, Tokyo Tower, the Fuji TV station, "Heighton View Terrace", the "Hikarigaoka" subway station, even Kyoto was featured in Digimon briefly, and all were artistically based on and/or real locations in Japan. Those are all places I'd like to visit too, ahh...

Plus, ever since getting into fandom, even long before Hetalia, I've always held an interest in Japanese culture in general. The language, the mannerisms, the history, the architecture, the scenery, the fashion, the food, the sports, the festivals and the like, even the music, as of lately especially (looks at Vocaloid fandom, even)... Just. Someday, I'd really love the chance to at least visit Japan, just once. Meeting seiyuu and attending fandom events like concerts or promotion events, going to the Animate shop, Comiket, other cons there etc. would be huge bonuses, but I mainly want to go just to see Japan with my own eyes and briefly experience life there, and learn even more about it.

(Enoshima would be a great place to visit there too coughs... but really it looks like a beautiful place)

/hides now...

I've been passionate about Russian history and culture since childhood and would love to see all the places I've only read about in books in person, especially St. Petersburg and Tsarskoe Selo because dem palaces, though I would gladly accept any opportunity to visit Russia no matter the region.

Gorgeous landscapes!

Though also, well, it'd be nice to finally see this place that I've been reading so much about and looking at so many photos of. Being able to go to a place that you've read about before is a very satisfying experience...!

And also I have some friends that I would like to visit there. So, that too.

(Argh, I wish I had decided to give in to temptation and go this year. I had an offer. I shouldn't have said 'no'. :| )

I know how cliche it is but I really really wanna see the ancient ruins and the museum of athens and knossos and delphi and and aaaaa

I'm so fed up with looking at a book of ancient greek things and having my dad peer over my shoulder to say "oh I've been there, hey I know that place, oh look I was there too" AAAAAA just because YOUR mom was a classics teacher, DAD...!

Also I'd like to see traditional dances! And I have discovered the wonders of moussaka this year, it'd be nice to have it super authentic style mmm

my grandpa served in the US military there after WWII was over and he and my grandma collected a lot of charms of the crests of a lot of German towns so it would be really cool to visit those places and also my mom was born in Bavaria during that time so yeah, I wanna go there.

More family related reasons, my mom still hasn't figured out where my dad's German side sprung from but maybe digging around over there would be more fruitful?? Or asking if anyone can understand our name or what dialect it's from :'Da

And all the history, ahhh castles and folkways and good food!

I studied German for two years in high school and I almost studied abroad there, but since that plan fell through...
