part 347 dimensions of sight and sound

and of mind. Do do do do do do do do do do do.

How was your end-of-December-into-January time, meme? Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Or light a candle in your window in the hopes that Himaruya would update again instead of leaving us behind like an 19th century light house keeper's wife whose husband has gone off to sea? ... Did you?

Enjoy part 347!

That Norway, what a guy. I'm so happy about the canon that we have for him now; the earlier, modern-day stuff was nice and all, but it's great to be able to really take a look at him in a historical setting and see what his relationship with Denmark is like there. (Not to mention playing into the whole "us against the world" thing. Or "us against Sweden" at the very least.)

I've mentioned before, but one historical bit that I don't want to see in canon with him is anything to do with 1814. Or 1905 for that matter. 19th-century stuff in general probably wouldn't be too bad, but anything to do with the actual formation/dissolution of the union with Sweden would be kind of messy on the fandom front.

I do want to see some stuff with him and Sweden, though. Aside from the butter sketch. Probably something modern. Oh, and more stuff with England too.

As much as I like Norway, though, I can easily see why people would find him boring. He has moments where he's really weird, especially toward Denmark (and Iceland), but in general he's kind of subdued and has a flat sense of humour. He works best when contrasted with someone with more presence, like when he's being the straight man to Denmark's... Denmark. Other times it's harder to appreciate him, except maybe when someone's really interested/invested in the country itself.
