part 353 whalers on the moon

We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

Enjoy part 353!

"manchild" is ableist language?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-17 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
to men, probably

but i can also see how it could be seen as "ableist"

I've seen it used against autistic men quite often. You certainly don't need autism to be childish though.

I am fucking tired of the idea that bottoming is a punishment or shameful and that the person who loses at a sport, loses a bet, does something stupid etc. has to bottom if there's sex in the aftermath, even if they don't want to.

I don't see this all that often. Comes up in anime fandoms more than western media fandoms, though, in my experience.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-17 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Getting forced into fucking someone you hate is much more efficient punishment

What bothers me more is how the stereotypical seme/uke dynamics play into characterization. And for whatever reason, it bothers me way more when people are trying to subvert a trope. For example, it's more common for Germany to top in GerIta, so sometimes I see people turn Italy into this super macho sex god if he's on top, as if he couldn't believably top when he's in character.

I went on a geological excursion in April in a very gorgeous part of Southern France, so there's lots and lots. But I'm actually busy writing my report on that very excursion right now (it's due in 12 hours), so I just randomly picked a couple. None of them remotely do the places justice though :|a

In Gorges d'Héric, the most beautiful park I've ever been in. You can't really see it from this angle, but right in front where is picture was taken is a small waterfall.

Image
The waterfall in question. There were lots, but this was the one I had my lunch at.

Image
Some trees at my lodge. I loved how pretty the green and blue look together, so I took a picture.

Image
Taken in Minerve. This underground cave is actually pretty cool. It was naturally made by the river.

By the Mediterranean Sea, in Cap d'Agde.

Here's one taken on another excursion on Saturday. It's not all nature, but close enough? Maybe? I have no idea where exactly this was since we walked around so much and I haven't sorted through my notes yet, but I think it shows the Nahe River in Germany.
