part 353 whalers on the moon
We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.
Enjoy part 353!

Pigeon next to a cock! Maybe I should've looked better but I could only see one leg on that pigeon. :c
And this is really close to my house.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-17 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)In Gorges d'Héric, the most beautiful park I've ever been in. You can't really see it from this angle, but right in front where is picture was taken is a small waterfall.
The waterfall in question. There were lots, but this was the one I had my lunch at.
Some trees at my lodge. I loved how pretty the green and blue look together, so I took a picture.
Taken in Minerve. This underground cave is actually pretty cool. It was naturally made by the river.
By the Mediterranean Sea, in Cap d'Agde.

Whoops, missed the "nearby" part
(Anonymous) 2014-06-17 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)Here's one taken on another excursion on Saturday. It's not all nature, but close enough? Maybe? I have no idea where exactly this was since we walked around so much and I haven't sorted through my notes yet, but I think it shows the Nahe River in Germany.

I was trying to take a picture of a birds flying past the moon but I was too slow. Well, two am moon is nature too.
Four am moon.

Sundays I work at a native american history museum in a park nearby these lovely birch stands

The view looking the other way across the marshes

It's a very marshy area, so there's a raised wooden path that winds through the trees. Good thing, too, there had been a lot of rain a few nights before and there was a ton of runoff from the mountains.

Big fat frog was appreciating the rise in water level
froglink!
Birch bark is crazy strong, the tree inside might be long dead and rotting but the bark does not care a whit.

Another view of the boardwalk
link!
They look like gentle rolling ghibli hills but they're really all puddly swamps!
link!
And lastly, the reason why it's so good that birch bark lasts so long. This is a reproduction Wabanaki wigwam dwelling that the museum built out of branches and birch bark sheets. We have only had to touch it up once in several years!

THERE hope at least someone on flat view sees this and likes my birches ;3; Everyone else in the thread has such lovely photos, you guys!

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 03:15 am (UTC)(link)I miss marshlands, I grew up very close to them and sights like this were our field trip excursions all the time. How wonderful that you get to work in such a beautiful place! The wigwam picture is super cool.
Re: photography prompt post!
We have quite a few around us, both fresh water and salt marshes. I hope you get to see some sometime soon!
Y'know what's crazy, though? This particular stand of birches would not have existed here if not for a devastating fire a little under 70 years ago, which burnt away the shady conifers in the area and left the way clear for sun-loving birches and maples. Amazing how nature can bounce back with such beauty...
It's such a neat little building, it looks like it would be cozy with some of the holes patched up and a nice fire going inside!
