part 353 whalers on the moon

We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

Enjoy part 353!

Twice Upon a Time! It's from the early 80s and it's a cut-out animation movie. It's about two workers at a dream factory who get fired for being terrible at their job. It's. much better than I'm making it sound, I promise. It's my favorite movie ever, but it's pretty hard to find nowadays. There's two versions, one "edited" version which was cut down for broadcasts (and was shown on Cartoon Network a few times, I believe) and then the "uncut" version, which is mostly the same but with the raunchier jokes intact and a few swears left in the dialogue. I imagine the latter might be more common online, but the former is what the official VHS release was, I think. It was never released on DVD because the directors had a falling out and that's also why it's difficult to find anything hahaha OOPS.

tl;dr Twice Upon a Time is really good but also really hard to find for reasons.

I guess I had some interesting classes :P

To be fair many of them were because of my Iconic Films class, where, well, we watched a lot of iconic films. Like: Battleship Potemkin, Casablanca, The Producers, and Sunset Boulevard.

In other classes I watched:

National, State & Local Government: 12 Angry Men
German: Amadeus, M
Contemporary Communications: Duck Soup, A.I.
English: Inherit the Wind, My Fair Lady, Romeo and Juliet, I think we also probably watched The Producers at some point but I forgot when

My Neighbor Totoro (1993)

... Now that's kinda sad in comparison to everyone else's lists.

I just don't watch a ton of movies.

The Room is the shittiest fucking movie in the world and I love it.

I just really like terrible B-movie (or worse) cult movies because I love laughing at those things

Do The Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, and Silence of the Lambs count as 'cult' or not? They feel pretty popular but I can never tell.
