part 353 whalers on the moon

We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

Enjoy part 353!

[Well this wont work, the only thing he knows so far is that you're probably one of America's citizens,
but not why his sister looked so happy chatting with you.]

[Overly jealous protective little brother-mode activated
and he (finally) slowly approaches.]

Bonjour ...I mean, hello.

[Awkward pause - did he get your attention?]
americascaptain: by solaricons (wary)

=)

[personal profile] americascaptain 2014-06-29 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
[He's going to have to ask you to make your grilled sausage for him sometime so he can try. He might have seen most of Europe at one point but meat was rarely on the menu with a war on.]

[America probably would approve but it's hard to save the world in only your underwear. Getting shot hurts a lot more without any form of protection.]

[He's not the best at disguising himself either. Hoodies, baseball caps, and fake glasses help him get away from situations, not investigate further.]

Bonjour. It's okay to talk to me in French. I may be a bit rusty but I do know it.
lux_n_burg: (embarrassed)

\o\

[personal profile] lux_n_burg 2014-06-29 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
[He surly can do that, as soon as he's in a better mood again.
- And that's not surprising, with the wars and everything that went with them it also gave a low blow to his at that point already depressive economical situation and population (and in turn also his health). Not exactly a time for barbecue.]

[Still sounds like a good enough defence against invading naked cat-people from parallel dimension.]

Oh, is that so?

[Stares again, but then stops himself, you weren't rude either(to his surprise),
so he shouldn't be as well.]

... Um, no it is alright, that was merely a force of habit.
May I ask you something?

[Remains standing - at least for this short moment he has a pseudo-height advantage
- crosses his arms and clears his throat.]

What exactly is your... well, your relationship with Belgium?
americascaptain: by citadel_icons (confused)

/sorry for the late reply OTL

[personal profile] americascaptain 2014-06-29 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Since the invading cat-people from a parallel dimension are naked, having underwear would be a good defense. He could also blind them with his abs and chest.]

Oui. You pick a language up after a while of using it and passing through the countryside where it's used.

[He nods his head in acquiescence.]

Sure, go ahead.

[He blinks at the question. Why would this person want to know? Are they a nation as well? A friend of Belgium's? He looks Luxembourg over quickly.]

We're friends. Why do you ask?
lux_n_burg: (squishy?)

It's okay, I can't always reply at the same time either. :3

[personal profile] lux_n_burg 2014-06-29 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Himaruya was pretty vague when he came up with them, regarding what their skills were and if all of them were very strong or not,
but that might as well would have worked (but then the actual resolution was stripping anyways).]

Vraiment... wierklech, you probably have been to Frankräich then, I guess?
really - France
Or travelled to parts of Belsch... I mean, Belgium's house?

[The later part probably sounded closer to German than French now (even though it was Luxembourgish),
but he's so used switching between his languages, that he sometimes forgets that others might not be able to follow.

So, just friends? ...Hm you met her here then? I cannot-
Um, well I am not quite sure, if I have seen you around before.

[Returns that look, not realising that he simply forgot to introduce himself
and isn't helping to make things clearer now, like that he's
- despite how he looks - not just some nosy young bank official for example.]
americascaptain: by citadel_icons (confused)

I am glad I am not the only one.

[personal profile] americascaptain 2014-06-30 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods, trying to puzzle out what dialect of French - German? - that you're speaking.]

Ja, I have been to France, Germany, and Belgium. And quite a few other countries, like Luxembourg.

[He nods again.]

Yeah, I met her here. I've come and gone from this place a few times but I have yet to meet everyone. I've met a few nations though. Are you a nation too?
lux_n_burg: (eurosparkle)

Time zones and different work schedules just happen.

[personal profile] lux_n_burg 2014-06-30 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
[As long as you don't outright call it a dialect (even though it technically was considered one)
and not a language, when he can hear you.]

Oh? [Looks genuinely surprised but he still can't quite remember if he met you before.]
That must have been a quite a while ago? [more thinking aloud now]
...But that is still surprising, usually Americans forget that...
um, aside from when they are visiting the memorial or looking to avoid tax-

[Stops himself and turns his attention back to you.]

So, did she warn you already about this place?

Wha-what?
Of course I am a nation, did I not say so be- [slowly realizes he didn't]
Um, well never mind that, I am Groussherzogtum Lëtzebuerg.
Or just Luxembourg.

...And you are? [at least offering a small smile now]
americascaptain: by yappiechick (gentle)

This is true!

[personal profile] americascaptain 2014-06-30 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs.]

Yeah, about 70 years ago now. It was during the War.

[He raises an eyebrow at your whispering. Are you trying to insult him?]

I'm not the average American.

[He shakes his head.]

America did. He was the first nation I ran into. He's full of information, and a fun guy to spend time with, though it is a bit humbling to be friends with the country you serve. Belgium made me waffles and bought me a cup of coffee.

[He smiles, trying not to laugh at you.]

Nice to meet you, Luxembourg. I'm Steve Rogers, or as everyone likes to point out, Captain America.

[He holds his hand out for a handshake.]

lux_n_burg: (Hey!)

1/2

[personal profile] lux_n_burg 2014-06-30 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
[frowns] Wait, what? But that- [the confusion is visible] - that would mean...

[Not consciously, he was more talking about how usually him "existing" is forgotten
or people simply prefer travelling to bigger places (because "small nations don't count" and other things he has heard so far).]

Jo... yes, that seems to be the case. [still confused]

Sounds like he showed his best behaviour, well he can be a bit childish at times [...says someone who looks slightly younger than America]
- but then he is usually very friendly who does not like to impress their citizens.

[Shakes his head at first, then smiles.] How typical of my sister, always eager to take care of...
[hot guys] others, but often simply too busy when I invite her over.

...Ah? [stares dumbfounded]
lux_n_burg: (blushes)

[personal profile] lux_n_burg 2014-06-30 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
[He laughs, slightly embarrassed now.]

O-oh, that explains a lot!

[Different realities and such colliding here is nothing new after all.
And he shyly returns the handshake.]
americascaptain: by yappiechick (gentle)

[personal profile] americascaptain 2014-06-30 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I crash landed into the artic ocean and ended up frozen for most of those 70 years, if that helps explain my youthful appearance.

[He laughs.]

Yeah, he can be, but we all get that way. There's no need to impress me though, getting to know him is quite the honor.

[He smiles.]

Well if you're family, you could invite yourself over to her place.

[He shakes his hand and lets go.]

You're the calmest person I've met so far when I introduce myself. Everyone else seems to get flustered or excited, which I'm used to by now. I guess I'm not very popular in your part of the world.

[He is perfectly fine with that. It means he can vacation in your country in relative peace without the need of his makeshift disguises. Not that he has time to go on a vacation these days.]

lux_n_burg: (laughs)

[personal profile] lux_n_burg 2014-06-30 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[After the introduction that followed, even that explanation finally made sense to him.]

Yes, freezing is not fun... I think I was at least a bit lucky in that aspect,
as far as I can remember I only drowned once in a frozen lake
when I was still young. Well, children can be too curious for their own good.

[Laughs as well (nation problems).]

[nods] I understand... and I am sure he will be even more excited that you are around,
since his birthday is pretty soon after all.

I do that often enou- um, I mean getting brushed off on my birthday aside from the usual congratulations can be sometimes annoying
[Sighs - he's of course exaggerating, they spend the whole night celebrating her success at the world cup just before.]
...but that does not matter now.

[looking a bit surprised] Is that so? O-of course I am usually...
always very calm. [Nods (spoiler: that is a blatant lie).]
And apparently I need to swoon more?

[barley stifles a laugh]

[Well, he wont deny that you're good looking the but the height difference
and the current involvement with his sister is kind of a turn-off... for now.]

Oh, you should not worry, I am sure you are still pretty popular [thinks about it] especially with humans...

Hm, well my brother might also not react as excited as other nations would.
Monni Frankräich, I mean France will most certainly like you, but you should be careful...
uncle france
[He would love to show how good his house looks now in comparison to 70 and more years ago.]
americascaptain: by yappiechick (gentle)

[personal profile] americascaptain 2014-06-30 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's not going to comment on how it felt to drown or freeze. Or on childhood mishaps - his childhood was not the best.]

We actually share the same birthday so I want to get him a nice present. It's not too often I run into someone born on July 4th, though I don't know if born is the right word for nations...either way, I am sure we'll have a great time.

[He laughs and shakes his head, waving his hand in protest.]

Please, don't swoon on my account. I am just a normal guy, with the exception of certain abilities, so treat me as you would anyone else. I have enough fans as it is.

[He looks at him curiously.]

Why should I be careful around France? I need to get back there too. I have an interest in art and I know that country has a lot of beautiful museums. Italy too. Even Germany I think. Saving the world doesn't give me much time for my hobbies.

[Neither does tracking down brainwashed best friends turned assassin who may or may not remember who they are but are still on the run but he doesn't mind having an objective to work towards.]
lux_n_burg: (I like it!)

[personal profile] lux_n_burg 2014-06-30 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Doesn't realise that he mentioned a sensitive subject
(but nation childhoods are neither far from normal nor usually all that great as well).]

That is nice, a double-birthday sounds cu- ...like fun.

[He almost wants to suggest something involving only you and a ribbon as a perfect gift for America,
but thankfully he keeps it to himself.]

Uh, yes, it is not like a human birthday... it changes with time and is often simply the national day or a day with historic significance.
We are lucky if we know the actual year or even decade in which we were originally born...
depending on the century the records are often not very reliable. [shrugs]

Is that so... well, I guess since you already got your own nation
and my sister and whoever else in your personal fan club, any more are not needed, right?

[His tone is mostly half-joking.]

It is not like that, well not a real danger, just... [Blushes a little, how should he word this?]

I guess it only matters if you would get easily uncomfortable when someone is a bit too... kind of touchy-feely?

[Nothing like a friendly butt-grope as a welcome.]

I am sure everyone would love to show you around their houses,
since a lot has changed and improved in all those years. [smiles]
And especially the museums and historic buildings are worth travelling around Europe,
well, whenever you find the time, of course.

[Hero problems... and sadly none of them can help in this case.]

I am sure he shares his birthday with a lot of his citizens. In general, it's a great holiday.

[He nods.]

That makes sense. Plus regimes rise and fall every day, changing the countries and names of borders all the time.

[He's not going to continue the conversation on fan clubs. He wants to be treated like a normal person but he's fully aware he stopped being normal a long, long time ago.]

France is too touchy-feely? I guess I wouldn't be overly comfortable but that's a typical greeting in some countries isn't it? Hugs and kisses on cheeks?

[He smiles back.]

I hope so. Do you have any noteworthy museums or buildings you'd recommend for me to visit if I ever get over to your part of the world again?

[It's alright. He has a team of friends with super abilities who can help him deal with saving the world/universe/AWOL friends.]
lux_n_burg: (dot-dot-dot)

Sorry about that, I only noticed it now. (;3;)/

[personal profile] lux_n_burg 2014-07-12 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ooc: I think I messed up with sending my post or captcha I don't know,
but to give this thread a better end...]

Oh, I know, he loves to invite others a lot to celebrate with him.
But, who does not like celebrations and fireworks.

[nods] That is true, although in the past that happened even more frequently...
[sighs] I certainly do not miss having to move around so much.

[Drops that topic then as well as the other one... for now.]

Um... [He’s sure butt groping is not a typical greeting in his corner of Europe at least.]
well, not quite but...
[Shakes his head and smiles instead of further attempting to explain] Ah never mind,
I am sure everything will be fine then.

[Maybe some payback for flirting with his sister?]

That is a bit difficult, everyone has their interesting sights to visit,
usually you can find something interesting near or in the respective capitals.
Also it depends on what you prefer, historical sights, modern art or history museums and so on.
Just to name a few museums for example... like my sister has the Royal Museums of Fine Arts
and my brother the famous Rijksmuseum among many others.
And I as well have plenty of museums and people love to visit the old parts of my capital - kind of my birthplace
-
and the casemates beneath, there is also an art gallery nearby.

[Normally he would have recommended the American memorial as well, but in this case he isn’t so sure.]

I am sure you will find a lot to visit whenever you get the chance to travel there.

[Certainly a more exiting life than that of "hetare" nations arguing at meetings for example.]
americascaptain: by yappiechick (gentle)

It's perfectly fine!!

[personal profile] americascaptain 2014-07-13 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[ooc: Hurray for good endings though!]

[He takes out his notebook to write down the names of the places Luxembourg is mentioning, so he can see them on a future visit.]

To be honest, these all sound like great places to go. I like art, and learning about a country's past can help you understand its people and its present. I'll be sure to visit these places. Maybe I'll run into there, if you're not busy here.
lux_n_burg: (smiles)

[personal profile] lux_n_burg 2014-07-14 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Looks a bit surprised.] O-oh, if you actually manage to visit,
I will make sure to get some time off work to show you around!

[Right, arranging work and spontaneously acting as a tour guide might still be difficult.]

Um, but some notification before would help. [smiles]
americascaptain: by nectarousness (smile)

X3

[personal profile] americascaptain 2014-07-14 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? You don't have to - I have a feeling you nations lead very busy lives, I don't want to take you away from any business you need to conduct. But I would appreciate it if you could show me around.

[He gives him a soft grin.]

Of course. I'll be sure to give you a call if I plan to be in the area. Just as a heads up - sometimes trouble likes to find me.
