It's... December! I can't believe it's almost the end of another year. Time is weird. Anyway! There's been a lot of neato Hetalia news in the meantime! That game (that I can't get working but will look at videos and screencaps of so I can play vicariously)! The image of the first doll! The musical promo images!! What are you most excited for?

Woah. I'm genuinely stunned that Mattel would do this! This is really cool. I love dolls in different sizes. The tall dolls are my favorite (the redheaded one ahhhhh) although boo @ no articulation. I can see why, though--the cheaper $10 bodies can be used to test the waters.

Pretty much all the pairings I like are usually tagged in collection one-shots with a billion tags but the main pair is USUK or Germany/Italy.

These look so great and I'm so happy Mattel is doing this!! The ad with the girls playing with them was adorable ;u; When I was little I would've been ALL OVER these, my mom was always adamant at getting me "new faces" and, the few times it was a possibility, "different bodies." (I had wheelchair-bound-friend Becky, Rosie O'Donnell, and a grandma doll with subtle housewife arms)

The people I've seen grumbling that they "should have done this earlier" are whiners, like don't complain that they should make more diverse dolls and then complain when they make more diverse dolls??

BECKY WAS THE BEST. I wish Barbie made more wheelchair dolls. I saw a wheelchair set for bigger dolls at Target one day, but nothing for barbie-sized.

I'm loling at doll collectors on Facebook who are saying this is WRRRRRRONG because "Barbie is supposed to be our FANTASY!!! No one wants to be FAT!!!!"

As a child, I probably wouldn't have liked them though, lol. I didn't like anything different than what I was used to. But it's not like I played with dolls much anyway.

Neat, and I think something that may ultimately revitalize the company. If nothing else I can see these become a fad. Of course there's going to be a shit-fit at first from both sides, but if Mattel can weather the initial storm I think they'll be okay.

YEAH!! Sadly I ended up making a mess of the wheelchair, a rubber band melted on it when it was in storage. /dumb UnU

They should roll out some more wheelchair doll designs! That pun was absolutely unintended, I swear.

I haven't pre-ordered either. I don't know, I LOVE the idea of Hetalia dolls, but these just aren't doing anything for me. They look too flat and two-dimensional...

And do you like to shop?

For me, it seems to come in waves. I live super cheaply most of the time, there's just not very much that I ever want. And then for a stretch of 2-3 months I'll be super into one of my hobbies and desperately want to buy EVERYTHING. I don't always give in to temptation, but whether or not I do the funny thing is that 2-3 months is guaranteed to be followed by a longer season of being meh about every possible purchase and going back to total frugality.

I'm pretty sure I have a spending problem BUT yes I love to shop. I like buying books and little collectibles and dolls and decorations. And make-up (especially lipsticks). I have to force myself to stop getting into certain hobbies because I have a tendency to binge-shop right when I get into them. ("oh I like Steven Universe. I SHOULD BUY ALL THE SHIRTS AND FUNKO POPS AND PINS AND.....")

Ia about the waves, though. There might be months where I don't buy anything and then a month where I buy ALL THE THINGS.
