i think engagement rings are popularly thought to have started (in europe anyway, and specifically big diamonds) with the habsburgs, so it amuses me to think of austria demanding one...providing one is another story. iwonder what austria's wedding rings looked like anyway (historically accurately speaking)

I love the idea Sophy (ask-iran on tumblr) had about nations keeping old favorite pieces of jewelry and wearing them with their normal street clothes decades or even hundreds of years later. I still need to draw that...!
