part 363 paper snowflakes

It's... December! I can't believe it's almost the end of another year. Time is weird. Anyway! There's been a lot of neato Hetalia news in the meantime! That game (that I can't get working but will look at videos and screencaps of so I can play vicariously)! The image of the first doll! The musical promo images!! What are you most excited for?

Enjoy part 363!

Penny: I love doing nothing, but I also hate doing nothing.

Dime: I have vague desires for Netherlands/Turkey fanwork, and it's all the fault of the person who mentioned it to me. A++ hot ship. Especially if they're rough-handed with one another.

And this also reminds me of Sweden/Turkey, which I still like... I think at one point I was going to write a historical thing with them, but never did get around to it. Hmm. I wish it weren't such a rare pair. But I'm very grateful for the doujinshi that exist for it.

This is the second time my Lab Job has been downgraded to part time from full with no actual difference in amount of work, and I'm slipping even harder trying to keep on top of all my projects. Why does this keep happening to meeee...

I was just reading some Nozaki-kun when someone posted this:

In English lesson, a student translated "I love you" as "我汝を愛す". Soseki told him "It's weird. A Japanese man won't say that. He might have more elegance". So he showed his translation "The moon is beautiful having you beside tonight." and said that this was an enough expression for a lady with Japanese spirit.

The sentence "tsuki ga kirei desune" ("The moon is beautiful") is often used to communicate love by today’s people. They favor the sentence because it is like a kind of secret sign and they think it is more tasteful than using “ai shiteru” directly.

I mean, I'm not even sure how accurate this is but it did reminded me of this:

And it just hit me that Sweden thought Finland was declaring his love to him under the moonlight after they ran away together from Denmark's place. Oh Sweden, u so innocent so pure.

OH. You're right! I forgot about the Soseki thing, too. Which is weird, 'cuz it's pretty prevalent.

Sweden, you goddamn darling.

Back in the DDR they had the "Schwedeneisbecher" (Sweden Sundae)...

Sounds like a love confession to me.

And the West had - and still has - Coupe Dänemark.

A love confession to Sweden, but from whom?

Trump is basically your Berlusconi. A gajillionaire fighting tooth and nail against his hair loss, who treats women like dirt and nobody took seriously until he went really close to winning. Fundamentally an excellent salesman who somehow became convinced he's God.

Berlusconi did win and made a lot of damage, but never quite managed to install the dictatorship you have in mind, thought he did suppress a lot of freedoms on tv - but that's because he owned tvs, Trump doesn't, IIRC, or at least that's not his main business - that's why so much of the press is against him. Also half the reason why he did manage to make all the damage he did was because none of his adversaries had a backbone - I imagine your Congress could do better. Also-also Italy is hugely corrupted and in with organized crime, you hopefully have less of that problem in America.

Also-also-also Berlusconi lasted, with minor interruptions, for 20 years. That's impossible in America, thankfully.

I'm not saying it's gonna be good times but it's also not going to be the end times, you know.

I thought that was Switzerland and not West?

Eithet Saxony or Brandenburg...

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Originally yes, but thanks to the popularity there it works nicely in contrast to the Sweden loving East.
Now Switzerland and Denmark could be interesting but weird together, the two happiest nations on earth if you go by stats.

Makes sense.
