part 363 paper snowflakes

It's... December! I can't believe it's almost the end of another year. Time is weird. Anyway! There's been a lot of neato Hetalia news in the meantime! That game (that I can't get working but will look at videos and screencaps of so I can play vicariously)! The image of the first doll! The musical promo images!! What are you most excited for?

Enjoy part 363!

[All right, because that's exactly, what one anon suggested about him. Talk about starting very strange rumours.]

[No he doesn't. Luxembourg certainly doesn't ask America for notes try to wiretap his neighbours.
But to lessen the blow, the one that eats the most Schwedenbecher could be more likely the one with a crush
and Brandenburg certainly doesn't eat ice cream that excessively?]

...

[He sadly retreats the offered mango after getting only awkward silence in response.
How disappointing, he only wanted to be a good neighbour for once and help.]

Oh. [clears his throat] I... um, actually I am note sure?
I mean the usual suspects aren't around [shrugs]

[See what you're getting him into?

Nooooo, not at all dude. AND THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING! Geez, just because he has Fürst Plücker-Eis!]

...

[Ah. He didn't mean to upset him... But even IF he he had a crush on someone, a certain someone wouldn't leave him alone. And said crush would have to be ready to accept that Bran comes with extras only.]

Neither am I, I've never really kept up with such things like who is into who.

[If anyone had a crush on him he would be oblivious to it.]

How long ago was it done? If it in like Part 2 and filled 6 years ago, I'm sure no one would notice.

I often say I'm sure I'm going to die of cancer that started out as skin cancer. But I don't actually want to die from the cancer, or the complications it causes, or the effects of the cancer treatments; I'd rather we get more comfortable supplying near-death patients with a lethal pill they can choose to take so I won't have to waste away until I'm a dead vegetable, just until I'm done so I don't have to starve myself dead. What are opinions on that sort of thing where you live, anon?

united nations withdraws support for anti-discrimination law for royals in japan

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
THE progenitor of Japan’s imperial line, supposedly 2,600 years ago, was female: Amaterasu, goddess of the sun. But for most of the time since, all emperors have been male. This has exercised the UN’s Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women. Recently it concluded that Japan should let women inherit the Chrysanthemum throne, too.

It is not clear what Emperor Akihito, who is 82 (and has a hugely popular wife), thinks about this. But the Japanese prime minister blew his top. Shinzo Abe leapt to the defence of a male-only line, saying it was rooted in Japanese history. The panel’s meddling, he said, was “totally inappropriate”. Cowed, it withdrew its recommendation that the law of succession be changed.

Go to my Grandma's house with my family and eat dinner. I'm sure Grandma will have some chocolate bunnies for me too because she won't be able to resist buying them.

And I'll wear pretty clothes because I can.

Personally, I do feel it should be up to Japan. It's not like the Emperor has any power anyway? But Shinzo Abe's opinion shouldn't be used as a proxy for all Japanese people's opinions, especially since he isn't all that popular.

Ultimately, what matters is how ordinary Japanese women are treated and what opportunities they have, not whether Japan can have an empress.

Women in the royal family matter, too, and they are being discriminated against and held from positions of social importance based on their gender.

Ok, this is somewhat related, but am I the only person who was taught never to step on a grave because it's "extremely disrespectful" (my parents' words)?

Because once when I visited the UK, I was in Westminster Abbey where all these royal people are buried in the floor and I felt like a weirdo zigzagging around them all or (even worse) jumping over them in places where the stone took up the entire width of the walkway. And everyone else just casually walked on top of their graves. It actually disturbed me a bit. Is this not considered disrespectful to most people?

I was taught not to step on regular graves, yeah. (Like, in graveyards.)

But I think in a case like the one you describe, people buried under the floor, is a little bit different.

The way I see it - in most of the "buried under a church floor" type things that I've read about, the people in question were fully aware that they were going to be put there. They knew and expected that people would be walking over them. It's just something that was packaged up with the honour of being buried inside a church.

It's a different situation from ordinary graveyards, where there is no expectation that you'll step on them, because there's no reason to step on them - they're outside, not part of any building structure, and there's usually enough room to go around.

tl;dr the location of the grave makes a difference to me with this kind of thing.

how can you be sure it's the same crow? Unless you haven't a lot of crows in your area or you're certain that you're near some poor lonely crow's homestead. I went from a city with TONS OF CROWS (they would hang out in trees and have crow parties in late afternoons and you could not be heard over the cawing, but it was so cute... in a creepy hitchcock way) to one with no crows not a single one (it was a pigeon city and I was 0% interested in befriending them) to another one with TONS OF CROWS AGAIN, so meeting The Same Crow is the first thing that stops me

they are hetalia! my longest wip and my kinkmeme wip. I feel like for the first I've written myself into plotholes. and for the second I just. have to actually write it.

0/10 on feeling up to working on either. would rather befriend crows

What would someone recommend for a first ballet? A ballet company near me is doing these shows this season, and I'd like to see one for the first time: Giselle, La Bayarde, Cinderella. Which is best for a first timer?

tbh i don't care about the issue and hadn't realized japan still had a royal thing going, but i think the u.n. shouldn't interfere in this case.

I think it highly depends on where you were raised, how old the graves are, etc. I don't step on recent graves in cemeteries, but there are churches in Italy in which you couldn't feasibly walk inside without stepping on some old abbott. Also I seem to recall the reason certain monks wanted to be buried in the aisle in the first place was because in this way people would step on them (a sort of a 'humiliation of the flesh even in death' thing, kinda kinky) so yeah.

hello meme hello hello

job search/inventing your own job: I have been thinking about putting together my own localization/translation...thing. Not an agency because it would basically just be me. I have noticed there's a bit of lacking in that field for Italian and I have the right degree (more or less) and I have some experience, but aside from that I'm not really sure. I don't expect to make a boatload of money immediately but it would be a nice way to tide me over in-between jobs (job search is likely to last months ;3;).

Are there some anons who have some experience in something like this?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
i want to watch something, but too indecisive to commit

i wish there was a show like x files but... not the reboot which kind of disappointed me. i want a mix of horror/mystery/dark humor.

with much the same. or hell, i'd take anything well animated with cool violence and no extraordinarily annoying characters

Athens is absolutely amazing. Don't listen to the haters. Yep, it's messy, and so? I feel like a lot of people who complain about the chaos had been coming from Northern Europe in the same tour - coming from Italy, let me tell you, it's better kept than Rome.
