pffff romano always handled shit like a boss it's just that our understanding of his ways has expanded

but seriously, romano has always been a little more street-smart than his bro (there was mention of his past as a pickpocketer a while ago) and I think the way he's treating putting his wallet on a chain as life-saving advice is pretty funny - also I remember him doing pretty well in the strips with America

it also helps we're seeing him through the eyes of dazzled foreign tourists and Spain, aka Romano's biggest fangirl in the whole wide world, bless him. of course in the strips from Germany's POV he's less "smooth, street-smart bad motherfucker" and more "seriously what is wrong with him why is everybody treating his behaviour as normal is it me? am I the problem? is it another instance of me not understanding Italian ways or is he truly that much of an asshole?"

anyway since I'm writing an essay anyway I'm going also to mention that the Italies are truly resembling Italians lately. it's a subtle change, nothing dramatic, but they seem a lot more recognizable as my country to me. like the latest strip with Italy trying to exchange juicy gossip for food or Romano being in general terrified of America but growing PISSED when he compares his food to England's - yeah, yeah those are definitely things an Italian would do
