Yes, that's true. It makes you wonder how much did Rose truly feel about her mother.

Same. In the original script, she gives Cal this big telling-off where she basically says he is to pretend he never saw her again and in return she won't ruin his reputation, and he asks what he should tell her mother, she replies "Tell her that her daughter died with the Titanic."
