part 363 paper snowflakes

It's... December! I can't believe it's almost the end of another year. Time is weird. Anyway! There's been a lot of neato Hetalia news in the meantime! That game (that I can't get working but will look at videos and screencaps of so I can play vicariously)! The image of the first doll! The musical promo images!! What are you most excited for?

Enjoy part 363!

So many:

in elementary school I was the reason that the librarians starting taking out the American Girl paper dolls from the magazines before they put them on the shelves. I took 8 paper dolls before they implemented this, but they had no proof and I never confessed, although it was blatantly obviously me. I still have a plastic zip-lock bag with the dolls in them somewhere.

My 2nd grade teacher let me check out books from the 'upper level' (3rd-5th grade books) but the snippy school librarian would always hassle me about this every time at checkout even though I had permission so I started taking the upper level stickers off the books and she never caught me (or if she did, she didn't say anything)

The elementary school librarian organized this annual 'book sale' that was actually a book exchange: everybody was allowed to bring in as many books as they wanted, and you could take as many books as you brought. So basically you bring 5 books, you pick 5 books, etc. At no point was a limit discussed, nor did the rules on the flyer she sent home say there was a limit. In 5th grade I had a lot of books that I didn't read anymore, so I ended up bringing 30 books. The librarian said it was unfair because most kids only brought 3-4 books, so if I got 25 they would feel bad, but it was a 'bring one, get one' exchange, so it's not like me taking books meant people weren't going to get their fair share.

She would only let me take 5, and I ended up becoming a crying mess (I had spent about 2 hours going through all my books, picking out ones I didn't read but that I thought other kids would like, plus this was the salty librarian who wouldn't let me check out upper level books and I always disliked her, plus I always hated getting punished in public as most 10 year olds do) and one of the mom's helping out took her into the hallway and yelled at her. The librarian left for the day, helper mom said to pick out 25 other books, and for the last few months of school the librarian didn't say another word to me even when checking out. She just pointed at the due date.

On my last day of middle school, I took a book from the school's library. It wasn't even one I read before. I did end up loving it, but I don't know why I wanted to take it. Closure? Wanting a memento from the library I spent way too much free time in?

in high school you pretty much couldn't go to the library unless a teacher took you there for computers, like the librarian would go WHY ARE YOU IN HERE if you went before/after school, and you weren't allowed to go during lunch, so no stories there.

College, uh. A few times I hid overnight in the library while in the midst of an just-graduated-18-year-old-suddenly-10-hours-away-from-everyone-she's-ever-known-having-to-be-a-total-adult crisis with water, snacks, sandwiches, etc. The cleaning crew almost caught me once but I passed it off as "oh golly I'm a freshmen, I thought the library opened at 6:30am!!!"
