Sadik’s not surprised they’re dawdling. Those councilmen are all the same. All too eager to invite war to their home until it’s knocking on their door.

He shakes his head, ridding himself of thoughts of politics for now. Instead he focuses on the idea of Ludwig waiting in his room.

But when he steps inside, the room is quiet, and Ludwig is nowhere to be seen.

The post they’d chained him to has been serrated through. A thick gap splits the beam apart, splintering around the edges, just wide enough to fit chains through.

Sadik is as angry as he is impressed. Ludwig is definitely a challenge.
