caputo too - i'm so mad at him but at the same time i think he's one of the best written characters in the show because a lesser show would've just written off this character as purely antagonist/comedic relief, but instead the caputo development makes me wonder what i would've done in his place. and the thing about otnb is that it makes me admit i'd likely be just as weak. and i do understand why at the end, he feels like the lesser of two evils is to save bayley, who's at least still alive and able to be saved - but by doing so, just like piper, and ruiz for that matter, he's set off a disaster of far greater proportions.

i am going to say that i think the veterans as guards are kind of two-dimensional this season, a bit cartoonishly bad; i can half buy it, but i also feel like they stick out like sore thumbs in a show as devoted to full stories as this one and i'm hoping they get explored more next season. even piscatella had some balance, you could see his logic whether or not you agreed with it.

i'm ok with it if characters leave the show via leaving prison after a while, like we don't keep following them forever after, but i think they can't overdo the deux ex WHOOPS BACK IN THE CLINK AGAIN just to keep favorite characters forever on the show.

i kind of want piper to get out just because i would find it really interesting if they have piper writing her book about prison as part of the show.

i was surprised by how low daya laid all season and then BAM, but at the same time i feel that this is a very deliberate choice. i think they've got some major shitstorm planned with aleida on the outside and daya inside next season, or possibly daya dead or daya put away as you said; aleida was and still is a godawful parent but this is a crucial turning point where she's going to have to do something for daya, be it in hopes of saving her or avenging her.

...or not. it might easily also be the story of how she won't/can't do anything.

i don't think maritza would've kept hold of the gun if she got it, i think she'd have given it over to ruiz (then again, that would've been a fascinating character development if she did).

yeah, i think the bayley/poussey flashbacks were very deliberately back to back. they were both just dumb kids being dumb, but in bayley's case the police see that, they look at him and see the future he could have and let him off easy. whereas in poussey's case the police don't see that.

in fairness, though, she has a lot more pot and she's planning to sell it, so possibly had she just had one dookie like bayley and been disorderly or littering the police would've let her off easy too. i guess there's no way to know.

but it is quite definite that in the end, caputo again looks at bayley and sees the future he could have and makes a decision to save bayley... by compromising justice and truth for poussey. and i think that's also a very deliberately presented comparison.

i want to meet poussey's dad next season. he's evidently quite high up in the military, and given the whole thing with the veterans and holding back on fleshing out the veterans i do wonder if they've deliberately saved all that for next season.

i am very worried about taystee. i feel like she was getting a lot better and maybe would've been able to walk out for keeps next time she's freed, but i think the show's revving up to have her go down a much darker path.

I've been reading Sluggy freelance on and off for the last ten years.
I like CRFH as well but that updates once in a blue moon now.

Arthur king of time and space has finished now, but I've read the whole archive. It's a playful take on the legend.

When I was a kid I read Asterix, Donald Duck comics, Lucky Luke and Valhalla. There was a comic about a native american boy and his horse that I liked too, called Yakari.

There was also some horrible comic I remember we had to read at school, where this girl dies of Aids. And one about a girl in Ancient Eygpt.

I sometimes read Sinfest. I used to love 8bit theatre when it was still going.
