i remember when blair witch was genuinely the scariest thing ever. and now, after 19043590348 shitty found footage horror jumpscare movies, it seems... i don't think it's aged too well.

IDK, I think it's more "genuine" because it isn't like those found footage jump scare movies. With the way they filmed it, it's not as structurally sound as newer found footage, but it feels more authentic. It reminds me of Noroi: the Curse in that respect (which we have to watch one of these days, meme!)

The ending scene (from when they go in the house till the end) still gives me major chills.

I watched it and it bored the crap out of me. The protagonists were so dumb and whiny. Only the last 5 mins are actually scary and I say that as someone who's really easily scared by films.
