part 365 days in a year
Another maxing, another part! How are you liking the latest strips? I'm still hoping for news of more dolls (France? Canada? China? ... France?)--anything you're hoping for? I hope your summer (or what season it may be) is fun!
Enjoy part 365!

(Anonymous) 2016-08-15 02:50 am (UTC)(link)4: Quick, you're in desperate need of a fake name. What character name do you think of first? Lulu Tugbottom
6: Public library or personal library? BOTH!
12: Tell one book story or memory (what you were wearing when you were reading something, someone saw you cry in public, you threw a book across the room and broke a window, etc.) I finished the Book Thief on the day we buried my father's remains in the ground. Everyone else went somewhere for... something, and I wanted to stay home by myself. I remember reading that last chapter and absolutely sobbing my guts out. I'd never, ever sobbed like that while reading a book and haven't since then, either.
16: Rant about anything book related FUCK when authors/publishers leave out a HUGE important part of a book's style or aesthetic or characteristic while promoting it. Looking at you, My Lady Jane!
19: Book that you call your child. That Little Mermaid book.
.

22: A movie or tv show you wish would have been a book Prince Ombra, PLEASE.
24: First book(s) you remember being obsessed with This Lion King book that inspired me to learn to read finally because I was sick of people not wanting to read it to me, also my babysitter reading it wrong to me.
5: A book that you think about and you cringe because of how terrible it was Eutopia. Fuck you, book.
28: An ending you wish you could change Some book I read in high school about an angel who is destined to mate with a human? I can't even remember the details. I just remember that in the end he went back to her and it seemed very OOC.
29: Favorite female protagonist. MmmmMMmmm hard to pick. I really like Elphaba from Wicked.
33: Cute and fluffy or dramatic and deadly? cute and deadly
34: Scariest book you ever read the Shining had a lot of moments that gave me legit goosebumps.
35: What do you think of Ebooks If I didn't have the Nook I couldn't read them. I don't like reading on LED screen.s

(Anonymous) 2016-08-15 05:19 am (UTC)(link)1: Currently Reading
HP & the Cursed Child. I should also work on this book I started called "Food and Drink in Medieval Poland."
4: Quick, you're in desperate need of a fake name. What character name do you think of first?
I thought of Robin Hood
5: Favorite series and why
Farsala Trilogy because it has so many tropes I love executed in extremely satisfying ways.
7: What is the most important part of a book, in your opinion?
Hmm, hard to say. I usually love beginnings most and if the author can't establish the story well, I'll give up on it. On the other hand, if they don't stick the ending, reading the book will have felt worthless...
17: What do you think about movie/tv adaptations?
Sometimes good, sometimes bad. We don't talk about the Percy Jackson adaptation.
20: A character you like but you really, really shouldn't.
ha
ha
ha...
Ramsay Bolton
26: Do you read from recommendations or whatever book catches your eye?
Mostly by what catches my eye, but I refuse to read ANY fantasy without a recommendation because when I was way too young, I bought a book because it looked interesting but it turned out to be full of furry and insect porn.
28: An ending you wish you could change
The last twist to the last Artemis Fowl book.
32: OTP or NoTP?
OTP: Howl/Sophie
38: What qualities do you find annoying in a character?
If they're supposed to be a main character but they have no empathy, no redeeming features, and/or are not relatable at all... Kind of like Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind. I almost liked her at one point but she just went back to being awful.
40: Has there ever been a book you wish you could un-read?
FUCKING VILNIUS POKER

(Anonymous) 2016-08-15 05:31 am (UTC)(link)I saw the movies first and was just ??? well this is shit. Then a relative was like NO READ THE BOOKS, ANON. And I did. And then I was mad.
Re: survey
(Anonymous) 2016-08-15 06:34 am (UTC)(link)+1 Scarlett O'Hara is annoying as hell
(Anonymous) 2016-08-15 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)But my problem with Scarlett, and with a lot of similar ~passionate, romantic~ leads, is that the author was too much on her side or seemed not to recognize that she's an asshole.
Also if I remember correctly (in fairness it has been a while and there is a possibility I am mixing this up with another book) Gone with the Wind in general suffered from this very high-handed kind of "the little people don't matter, only the rich and beautiful main character matters and isn't it such a tragedy how life doesn't bend over backwards to keep them rich and beautiful" attitude that I can't stand any more.
