Waning interest, loss of quality, and the reboot.

They did this reboot/redesign which focused on making the dolls cutesy and less threatening, and also make them look more like cute preteens instead of like ~cool Monster teens. The reboot also took away a lot of things like stands, changed the animal sidekicks and some backstories, etc. Fans young and old hated the reboot, kids weren't interested, and so the dolls releases trickled to almost nothing. I don't know if they even make new ones anymore or if they do they haven't in a long time.

Whoo, yeah. I used to collect MH too and the reboot was sooo.... bad....

It's cool though that the article mentions Monster Prom as I'm really huge into that right now.

i knew something was up. and i saw they'd rebooted the cartoon to be more kiddified, but i didn't know that extended to the doll line. that suuuucks, they really had something good going before that.
