Super cute, tho I must say I was quietly still holding my breath for France. Seeing Romano though, I wonder if that increases our chances for more characters outside the G8?

If you want a literal answer for this, the ones I have just feel like a soft and smooth high quality bendable plastic.
They're sturdy but they have a bit of give, but not much.

YESS I do still hold out for Francis.

But seeing someone out of the G8 increases my hopes for some of my other faves. If anything seeing Romano makes me feel like there might be a good shot at a Spain? Please please please let there be a spain.

I feel like it could be promising for the figurine line coming up. My wallet might kill me but I already know I'll buy every single one, just give me all 50+ characters, I'll let them bury me in the dolls when I starve.

it definitely feels to me like a Spain Doll has a really good chance yeah!!

also same!! ah honestly before the dolls I actually would have expected figures (though maybe not scale figures at first because one coins, so more like I expected smaller figures or new non-one coin chibi/keychain figures or nendos maybe, so the scale figure surprised me a lot too!! though both [dolls and scale figures] took a super long time to happen and were both super surprising considering older merch but yeah!!)

ALSO SAME w-well maybe not every single one but definitely some of my favorites!!

Honestly I'm still shocked how late figures are to the party with hetalia. I mean considering the absolutely overwhelming popularity in the 2010 - 2012 era it's astounding that there's not more merchandise. It would've sold buckets and I have no idea why they didn't.

Series with similar fanbases all got their figs pretty early on so this will forever remain a mystery to me.

As you said, at least some small figs or nendos or more keychains...

right that!! though I've actually just been discussing this with a friend but ahh... it seems like... compared to before - lately when anime related things are being promoted, the companies go way all out promoting things now?? some of my older fandoms (most which were still popular while running) got hardly any [well or, impressive] merch at all, or just like keychain figures or the like, now you see all these newer fandoms with a super crazy good amount of merch and super impressive scale figures and ahh... also older series' revivals and their sudden huge merch revivals (looking at you CCS and to a lesser extent Digimon and YGO DM, Sailor Moon and Pokemon don't really count though because both always had a crazy amount of merch but yeah) (well I guess CCS did too bUT THAT LATEST SAKURA FIGURE IS CRAZY IMPRESSIVE COMPARED TO OLDER STUFF also the newer Sakura figures!)

(which isn't necessarily a bad thing!!) (good merch is good merch yes) (though hard on the wallet cries)

so actually seeing all of APH's merch lately I'm wondering if it means they're about to promote even more APH somehow?? NEW ANIME SEASON MAYBE?? at least that's what it's feeling like seeing such impressive merch!! it seems like a surprising amount for just new manga releases so ahh yeah...!

Hmm fair point. Similar large cast series with a broad appeal to fangirls these days have figurines up till here. Within months of popularity (or well, anime adaption) usually.

Heck, even things that seem more minor in all of it seem to have a lot of figs and merch out.

It does seem unusual to start pushing out all the expensive stuff so late into the show. It seems to still be related to all the beautiful world and world stars stuff. Perhaps there could be a new season? I wonder if it's because the hetalia fanbase is kinda a low running constant even now the hype has faded... The recent cafes were very booked each time I checked. And the one lottery they held at animate was sold out when they did.

I guess everything there it's a pretty safe bet cause hetalia is definitely still selling haha

I feel the girls would translate so well into dolls... seeing the kind of dolls they already have.
But it seems unlikely, since the characters are probably too minor and I'm not sure if they'd take the risk saleswise :(

I'd love a Belgium or Monaco doll as well...

The only girls I think have a shot would probably be Hungary or Liechtenstein, they seem to enjoy some minor presence in merchandise at least.

Where is that Gintama gif when you need it - you know the one, where Hijikata's in full on otaku mode and is explaining the rule of threes in collecting: you need one to play with, one to display, and one to keep mint in box.

Though in my case it's more like I want to display both the tiny doll uniforms at once.

Ahaha...ha... speaking of budget, it's probably time for me to reassess my hobby spending too. I seem to be falling ever deeper into anime figure collecting hell. Stupid pretty sword boys.

Oh noooo. I know what you mean though, it's easy to overspend on things like that. What's the last figure you bought?

Freaking Romano is tripping me up because I didn't expect him and now I'm reconsidering Italy doll, which I'd initially passed on but... bros... ugh I wish the Italy doll just came with an alt head with the regular both eyes closed expression.

I did! Japan is amazing and so photogenic. I'll admit to falling further down the hole and starting to spend on alternative outfits too... there's something fun about dressing them up.

Can't wait for the rest to arrive so I can take pics of them together.

I do agree with the facial expression thing! Alt faces would be great, but I guess with the style of doll extra heads are pretty uncommon... Too expensive to paint and style the hair for each I suppose. I don't see it with the other azone dolls either

No, there weren't any confirmed characters at first, that's why there was a lot of speculation about who it would be. France? America? Russia? China? Germany?

I think Romano was definitely a surprise haha

I remember that too - I'm curious if it's because they intend to make a new body type for him. Japan is XS, Italy, Romano, and England are S, so I would expect America to be a M but that size doesn't even exist for male pureneemo dolls yet.
