This is a very rambling post today, I'm sorry, I'm in a tired rush. A tired tired summer rush. Which, in my professional opinion, is the most annoying kind of rush. I prefer a crisp winter rush! But oh well.

[It's a downright cold place, this, in the way it feels. Not so good for defence, either. But it's quiet, and that's what he needs right now.]

[He'd been walking along where the steep cliff met the sand. Now, he decides to go down to the water. Stops just above where the waves lick at the sand and drops his bag. Wraps his arms around himself and looks out.]

[He doesn't notice that anyone else is nearby.]

[Doesn't bother looking. He knows that voice.]

[takes his spear and stands]


Hey. Long time no see.

[Well, fine. If Denmark wants to make small talk, he can go do that.]

[Kicks at the sand, looking thoughtful.]

Can't remember what day we got here. Lost track've the-

[Glances at him- and then stares]

Th' hell happened to your clothes?

[give him a second, he's not sure he's ready for this]


...I got in a fight with 'em?

[Looks him up and down, then looks out at the water again. Denmark looks all right, unlike himself, but he isn't sure how to feel about that.]

Figures you'd go 'n do summat foolish like that.

[takes another step closer]


[Norway does look awful, and instinct's telling him to go help]


[but first...]


Coulda done worse.

[Makes a quiet sound to acknowledge it, then turns to look at him again.]

What're you at, then.

[Parts his lips as if to answer, then stops. Brushes his hair out of his face, seeming to think about it. Then speaks.]

Told him I didn't want him to go lookin' for me.

[But that wasn't the question, was it.]

[no, it wasn't. and that's not reassuring.]


[grips his spear just slightly tighter]


That ain't what I asked.

[iceandheather]

I know it ain't.

[Lifts his eyes to look at him straight, his expression as closed as ever.]

What answer are you lookin' for. Let's hear it.

[kingkongeriget]

[shoulders his spear]


If you got a weapon, go get it.

[iceandheather]

[Frowns, and picks himself off. Brushes the sand off his uniform, even if it doesn't make much difference, all things considered.]

Is that how we're goin' to do it, is it?

[kingkongeriget]

[nods]

[iceandheather]

[Looks first at the makeshift spear, sizing it up. Then at Denmark. No need to size him up. He just looks at his face, a tired expression on his own.]

You're sure about this, now. 'Cause I think I'd rather without.

[The pistol is in his pocket, and it's now that he slips it out.]

[well, shit. just his luck.]


[starts to laugh]

[iceandheather]

[...What.]

Don't tell me you've gone loony, here.

[Denmark is the kind to laugh in most situations, but this isn't exactly -- well...]

[points at the gun with his spear]

[Now he gets what Denmark is saying. He looks at the spear, then down at his gun -- no. Not his gun, Monaco's gun - and almost smiles. Almost.]

Aye, that's right. Ain't really my style, is it.

[Glances at him again, looking as if he's trying to decide something, then tosses the pistol aside, speaking quietly, almost gently.]
