I haven't had this experience per se, but I've been the reject-er... two times out of four we stayed pretty good friends, the first after a year of dating and the second after about a week.

My mom's stayed friends with almost every single one of her ex-boyfriends save for like one. It can be possible, anon! Especially since you're already friends.

The thing I hate about fandom these days is that canon has somehow become optional. Like, you can just change all the character backgrounds, personalities and details we get from canon because you don't like them, and then you can even boast about how your version makes so much more sense. Fuck that.

Eh, that's nothing new. I remember a lot of fanfic writers on LJ in the 2005-2009 era who would basically insist that their headcanon was better, write fics with that headcanon and imply that people who pointed out their stuff didn't match with canon were wrong. (cough rex dart and kingdom hearts, cough)
