Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä Manga Gets Kabuki Stage Play

Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki announced on Tuesday that Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga is inspiring a kabuki stage play adaptation. The play will adapt the manga's entire story. G2 is directing the play, which will debut in December 2019.

$20 for a book rec: The Maestro by Tim Wynne-Jones. An oldie but a goodie. Still one of my favourites after many years. Combines the following tropes: running away to live in the woods, eccentric mentor, music = magic (well, sort of. It feels that way, anyway). Might be hard to find outside of Canada, though.

Hey meme, would anyone here be interested in sewing patterns for historical costume?

It's my new hobby, and I'm currently in the process of gathering-cough-pirating as much as I can from Scribd, Pinterest, somewhat shady Russian download sites. I know a number of memers are into history and I've seen some mention knitting, but no one's said anything about sewing so I'm not sure if there's interest. But if even one person wants this big bundle of files, simply speak up.

I'll be wrapping this up and sorting everything in the next week or so (this takes time because I'm using a free trial of Scribd and have to screenshot + rename page by page for some of the books which are supposed to be read-only), then I can zip together the goods and put it on WeSendIt.

everything moved to tumblr when it was that peak of 2013-2014, there wasn't anything we could do. i can't think of a fandom that wasn't biggest on tumblr lately, although there could be ones i'm forgetting.

hopefully once people realize the importance of being able to have your sfw and nsfw fanstuff all on one site, they'll be more careful where they move to this next time. kinda hilarious that they're considering dreamwidth, but... it's not by-proxy owned by advertisers, so it's like, us, ao3, and maybe pillowfort if it can build itself up. now that people are realizing that's important.

So are explicit Tumblrs just leading to "problem loading" page errors? With "problem redirecting"? I thought they'd just lead to 'this blog cannot be found' like when they get deleted.

All the ones I've seen got their icons removed with the generic tumblr one, (you know the square with the eyes or the cone) and if you click on them, you'll be promoted on dashboard to view it "this tumblr contains sensitive / adult content". Everything's still they're, just the icons look like the person has deactivated. Though one person I tried typing in the URL via address got the logged out screen version, telling me to go back to dashboard.
