Which Hetalia characters need more flaws/good traits according to you? As in, who do you think is presented as "too pure" or "too bad"?

I would love to see for example a strip about Liechtenstein being greedy about money or Belgium having some real arguments with her brothers and so on.
Or something new about India, that isn't Bollywood to name another example.

At this point, yes. I'm barely reading the strips anymore (in fact I haven't in a few months), and I must've quit watching the anime back in 2010.

What do you guys consider quality fanfiction? What makes a fic become popular and talked about, or at least, well liked?

Generally, I have lousy mojo for guessing major fandom likes and writing is such a subjective thing that I'm gonna have to say "IDK" for the popular/well-liked thing. As for what I personally like.......hmmm.


- Strong character voice. If you can get me inside the character's head (or an interesting interpretation thereof), I am so sold.


- Little slice-of-life details. Such a sucker for those. Mentioning food preferences or habits or little things casually helps play up the naturalism, I've always felt. Banality and mild grit.


- Not like hardboiled grittiness, just like everyday life gross grittiness, like cleaning out the sink or feeling nasty and sticky when it's hot out or eeeeeeeew this train car smells like onion soup mix D:.


- Also a sucker for pretty prose.

Which Hetalia nations did you expect to be presented in a completely different way?

I was surprised by how positively America is portrayed. Sure he's obnoxious at times but nowhere near what I would've expected. Also, I would never have thought he'd wear glasses.

Surprised France isn't angrier/meaner. And actually I always picture french guys as having short dark slightly curly/deliberately disheveled hair. But this is probably a personal bias because I think that's a sexy look.

Somewhat surprised that England is a tsundere because I thought the stereotype was cold and reserved/not showing feelings, as opposed to easily riled up/angry. That said, semi-permanent grumpiness seems to be a common trait in british characters including those in british shows so it does fit, I just wasn't expecting it.

I expected Russia to be a tsundere rather than a yandere, frown all the time instead of smile, and have dark hair.

I thought Spain would be more volatile and prone to arguing, because I have always heard that the spanish are hot-blooded and hot-headed.

And I guess I expected the Italies to have darker and much curlier hair.
