perhaps especially relevant for anyone reposting copyrighted material in general, but the new attribution rules mean, well, this.

this is an art reference blog. it does not always attribute its images. incidentally, in the past i myself have felt that this blog should make more of an effort to source images.

however, what about the sources that are not available for free online? this account has been a treasure trove of excerpts and scans and previews of various anatomy books as well (as far as i know it does NOT post whole pirated books, btw, just previews of a sort, and indeed i have in fact purchased at least two books /because/ of seeing scans from them on this site so i would imagine it does not harm sales any more than amazon.com's "look inside" feature does)

now, before any panic, i do want to note that as far as i can tell, nothing (recent) has been removed from that blog. yet. i was just there a couple days ago, and right now it seems like i'm seeing all the same stuff. but to be safe, i am madly going through its archive and saving saving saving everything possible.

just a heads up, like i said no guarantee how strict tumblr will be in the end but it is way better to play it safe and save the images you want to keep! go through your likes. go through your reblogs. right click save.

I emailed Tumblr about this (and know someone who emailed about public domain image sourcing) and we were both basically told that they can't give me any additional guidelines other than what the guidelines say and could not clarify things. so... basically "tough luck if you violate whatever our guidelines are."
